bluesman123 Its a 1995 Dodge Caravan, and thruth be told I can't even find the stupid DLC on it!!!

Walker You didn't say what kind of car it is, but the basic procedure is to jump two of the wires in the link then turn the key on and read the check engine light. most manuals describe this in detail. Far easier is to go to the local Autozone/checker and have them use thier scanner for free.

Reading the Data Link

I seem to remember that there was a way to read out the error codes on the pre-OBDII cars by doing something to get the MIL to flash. Can someone point me to a web link that explains how to do this?

I'm not looking for the OBDII readouts ... I'm looking for the earlier version. I already have a scanner for the OBDII DLCs.

Thanks for any help you can point my way!
