I just bought a 07 sierra 2500 ext cab short bed 4x4 with a 6.0l

it needs a new engine and I was kicking around the idea of building a fast DD out of it. (built motor, turbo, etc)

Curious how much power it would really take to get one of these to move and be able to hit 10's or so. Figure the 4x4 would help to launch but the damn thing weighs around 6-7k, so its not light at all.

unless you got deep pocket that are topped off in $100 bills i wouldnt try and make a 10 sec truck out of that. those trucks are heavy and to get it to runs 12's is a pita, the biggest problem is to make the kind of power to run that, street-ability goes out the window gas mileage will suck horribly and the and the trans upgrade to run that are very expensive your best bet to have a 10 sec truck is sell that get a duramax or cummins or newer powerstroke get efi live spartan any real agressive tune turbo upgrade and supporting mods and spray the hell out of it.

ill put it in perspective my old cummins dually 2wd ran solid 13's on street tires although with sticky tires i would have hit 12's(2.6 sec 60') and that was with a hx40 boosting 42lbs, 4k gov spring 20* timing head studs full cut delivery valve tuned afc, 4k into trans work and a few other mods. what was awesome about the truck was the fact it beat my neighbors g37 consistently around town and still got 20 mpg empty
