herman quail As far as I can tell the door handles on my 53 chevy truck are the same on both sides. You can also take the blank button out and put in a lock mec. You can probably get a local lock smith to do the work, cheeper than aftermarket parts

badburn Hey there , i am restoring a 51 gmc right now . I will be getting alot of my chrome and hard to find parts from a company called LMC truck check online they have all kinds of stuff I believe they do have driver door locks

MARTINSR I don't think the handles swap side to side. At least they didn't on the swing handle. The base has an angle to it to level out the handle on the curve of the door. I don't think the latch as a paw for it anyway. It would take some modifications to make it work. You could do it but it isn't a bolt on.

I meant locking door handle on the drivers side.

52-54 GMC PU truck - keyed drivers door handle

I've looked high and low to find a locking drivers door for my 52 GMC truck. Passenger side no problem... so can the guts of a passenger side door looking handle be install into the drivers side ?

I'm also open for suggestions. The stock door latches got tossed for bear claw ones out of a Jeep.
