4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Ok, this is what I have, after a few hours I have this under the motor.

All I know is I have thought over and over how this never leaked before and I am so glad it didn't, it was full of brake fluid before!

Brian

Lines look red? Is that trans fluid or hydrolick fluid?

Brian: Don't use trans fluid in a hydrolic system Its designed as a trans fluid and trans coolant it can attack your hydrolic system and has a different viscosity and adatives It will swell hydrolic seals and in time cause failure

All the places I have looked say trans fluid. The people I bought the new rams from say Trans fluid.

That was kind of like watching a scene from "Poltergeist"
Were you styling with "Flares"? And I'm not even going to ask if those were "Disco" boots. Nope, not gonna ask.

LOL, looking at the video again, I can tell the exact time, the last week in Sept 1977! I painted it Aug 1 1977 and those are the very pants I am wearing standing next to the truck unmasked before the chrome was put back on that very day! I am prepping it for paint in that film. LOL, great times, I drove into Andy's Picnic the next weekend on the 7th for my first rod run. Andy is Andy Brizio of Andy's Instant T fame. Click here

I rolled in there all proud and the guy at the gate said "That's newer than 48 you aren't allowed in". I took off mad as hell and walked in looking for Andy. Never met him before that that is who I went looking for. I took my pink with me and I didn't even have to show him he said "Follow me" and walked me back to the gate and told the guy "Let him in" and he gave one of those "Your the boss" kinda looks and I went and got my truck and drove in. It was the coolest thing in my life at the time to go rolling in with all those hot rods. :D

Worked on one of the sprint cars today after a weekend at Lucus Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. for the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial race. Saturday night proved good and bad. My son finished #11 in the A main of the W.A.R series but during the heat races, someone (not naming names) run into the back of him down the front stretch and damaged the bumper and tail tank beyond repair. Had to duct tape the tank up to run the main. New tail tank & bladder, ($1400.00) :pain:. Got a new one ordered and will be ready for this Saturday race at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. The seasons about over, hopefully can save some $$$$ over the winter for some upgrades. :D

I am floored, it looks like after two days without a drop leaking it's leaking from the main reservoir seal. I put a new one damn it, I will pull the darn thing apart and see if I can do something with it. It looks perfectly normal, I can't figure this out.

John, I didn't even look! But I don't believe it's leaking from that one anyway. It looks like it's leaking from the most unlikely one to leak. The reservoir seal it's self, no moving parts, one large O ring that goes around the whole thing. It's bolt is as tight as I can get it without clamping the thing in a vice and tightening it. I am going to have to pull it apart and see if somehow the inside of that O ring isn't pinched weird or something.

Ok, I found that the motor did have a bunch of fluid in it. But it was pretty funky looking so I don't think it's from after I re-sealed it. I turned it up on it's side to drain it out completely before I continue. But I came up with the idea to tape a little piece of paper towel on the underside at all the seams to figure this out. I know it sounds like I am just wasting time, pull it apart and reseal it or what ever I am sure you are saying. Yeah that makes since except I already did that! The fluid is so thin it finds it's way all over and it's hard to nail it down. But I am narrowing it down. I hope to get that rear seat and top well all in there this weekend.

How about a good spray down of the inside of the motor with electrical parts cleaner and then let it drain out ? Just a thought . ;)

I finally got the Anglia home after it being in storage for a few months.
getting around to building a interior floorboard subframe,
The frame has such a forward angle to it that , getting it set up the way I want it to sit, and getting the front wheels to clear the fenders when turning, is presenting a problem,,
I want the car LOW ,, like the wheels buried under the fenders,
I need to get ride heigth set before building the floorboards,
I had to narrow the front section of the frame by 4 " to even get the tires inside the fenders, and its still to wide,,
I"mthinking maybe widening the front fenders by 1 1/2 inches each side, to get it to work out ,,
Just don't like this nose up look,, whatta ya think
