Jim Rockford A 200metric will have the same shape pan as a regular th350, only smaller and with fewer bolts, they are not crappy transmission, long as they are built right, I picked up a 77 impala with no reverse come to find out the trans was missing the frigging wave washer for the low reverse piston and had blow the seal out of the piston, i rebuilt it and added a Transgo shift CORRECTION kit to the valve body its been a really nice transmission, the lower 1st gear ratio than the TH350 really helps out with getting the car moving withthe tall rear gear, Its the main reason They installed those transmission in the big cars, lower first gear to get it moving quickly and still keeping the tall rear gear for gas mileage.

IIRC, both the TH200C and the TH2004R have "METRIC" on their pans.

Because the TH200C has the ability to lock up the torque converter, don't be fooled by the lockup engaging into thinking it's a 4-speed. The shift indicator lens on a vehicle equipped w/a TH200C will have only 3 forward gears indicated, (something like P N D 2 1), while the TH2004R will show 4 forward gears, the last forward gear is usually circled to indicate Overdrive.

Of course this assumes the original tranny is in place- which it probably is.

Take a glance under the car, then take a look here to pin it down. Just be careful to not be fooled into thinking a TH250 is a TH350. The TH250 looks almost identical to the TH350 externally- same size, same oil pan. But unlike the TH350, it has a band adjuster stud/lock nut on the passenger side of the case near the cooler lines.

I'm pretty sure that:
The 3-speed was the THM200
The 4-speed was a THM200-4R

This Wikipedia article seems to support my theory.

LATECH If it is a 3 speed, it is most likely a TH 250 . If you have a 4 speed, its a 2004r which can be a decent performer for the street with a few mods.
