Fads.

I hate the craze of using 20" wheels with small rubber band tires. It really looks stupid. And a wing on the back, Really? about the only cars that look right with a wing or spoiler is a Porsche Carrera or old Trans-am. When I see a wing on a honda or other ricer it's a shaking head moment, the driver is usually texting while driving and has talks about having "NOS". Hey stupid, It's Nitrous Oxide, not NOS. Rat-Rods, I like'em. Just as long as they are safe and built correct. There is no justification for unsafe steering or brakes.

Dave57210 What I always hated is the ones where someone customized and then couldn't stop! Made more & more changes and changed stuff just for the sake of changing stuff.

My own preference:

Don't change ride height by more than an inch

Do NOT use the 3 foot tall wheels with a single rubber band on 'em for a tire

I don't mind the "dipped in black paint" look on some cars, but it just doesn't do it for most cars.

I hate billet anything - always have

Some cars should NOT be customized - the original designer nailed it. Others need help. Some just can't be made to look good no matter what is done (or by who)

I don't see the purpose of airbags - if its too low to drive it, it just looks stupid, so why have a way to lower so much as to look stupid when its parked??

boothboy Always liked a nice mag on the back and baby moons on the front. Big and littles of course. Or just a nice rake.

texastomeh Saw a really neat bumper sticker the other day.

" One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure, but One Man's Turd is Just Another Pile of Sh--"

Of all places; it was on a Rat Rod!

You know what's funny about those? It wasn't that long ago you couldn't find one! When my brother built his roadster he wanted one, this was 1995ish. He found one somewhere, an aluminum skull at a swap meet but the back half was flat to bolt it to something, it wasn't a shift knob, one of those was NOT available anywhere, new or used. He had the back of the skull built up with weld, then ground it round and had it polished, drilled and tapped a hole to screw it onto the shifter. He also fully polished a set of Torque thrusts, they were one of the only sets we had ever seen. It seemed like it was no more than a month now looking back at least when 50% of the cars at the meets had a skull shifter and or polished Torque thrusts (now the torque thrusts are out of style already).

xxllmm4 I think 90% of the slamed cars are on air bags, so you just hit the switch and jack em up for speed bump and driveway duty

A friend of mine used to weld skid plates to his lowered trucks so they would spark on on bumps. This was in California in the late 60's.

Gene Winfield disagrees with you.

I guess it's referred to as the mono color scheme. In the 90's that was going on strong and I couldn't stand it. There is nothing special or stand outish about a vehicle that's all one color. It hides the lines and overall just looks plain stupid as what's make looking at 1 color special?
I noticed here lately some are trying to get back into it. Hopefully it won't hang around. In the 90's I stopped buying magazines because every car featured was 1 color. Paint over the chrome, paint the grille, the wheels. I seen one that was so bad the only thing on the whole car a different color was the gauges. As for todays day and age I can't stand this jack the car up so high it looks like a 4x4 and install 26 inch rims on it. I've seen many that sat way higher than my pickup and my pickup is at stock height. For the sake of looking cool I don't know how they can stand it. Very little rubber under the vehicle makes it ride ROUGH. Also the super stiff suspension makes it even worse. Me, I would never give up riding comfort for style.

Mono chrome, it is still alive and popular as ever, look at darn near any "ratrod" or many other rods with the flat black theme.
