Coodeville I own a 153. Great machine! Why don't u just go pick up a model that has reverse built into it? Seems to be easier to do than to go through all that trouble.

udtoy I am just starting, so it sounds like I can work without reverse while I practice practice practice. Thanks for your advice.

DanTwoLakes Not having reverse is not a big deal unless you do a lot of sewing. Without reverse, you stitch to the end, lift the foot and re-insert the needle a couple stitches back and then sew over the last couple stitches again to lock the end of the stitch line down.

udtoy Thanks Dan - now I know I'm not chasing my tail on something that can't be done... Next question is if it's worth the money for the upgrade, find a 156, or just deal with no reverse...

DanTwoLakes Yes, it is possible. You need to call an industrial sewing machine mechanic to see what it would cost.

Add reverse to Singer 111W153?

I found a good deal on a nice 111W153 and I'd like to pick it up. I saw a post by DanTwoLakes that mentioned that it may be possible to add a reverse to this machine. Can anyone expound on if this really is possible and if so, how?
