hahahaha.. well as a 7 y/o in 77, the radio was sad, and mom and dad were try'n to be hip. and that disco thing..
dad's 8 tracks went from chic to mamas and papa's, 3 dog night, and eagles,.
the 1980 at ten was a big a year for music as many others... acdc came out with back n black, and journey, and joan jett, etc was big. along with Fleetwood mac, blondie, pat benatar, billy squire, van halen, didn't really hear rock n roll other than elvis and the beatles until 79 as the family across the street, had a son 2 years older than I that was a Kiss freak, not fan ,freak.. it was all kiss all the time lol.. I joined a bowling league and it was all over, first time I heard Eddie van halen, that was it.. wanna guess what I asked for for x-mas... and the rest is history.. still like some funk, and late 70's and 80's dance music.. but nothing drives me like good guitar driven tunes... and in the 80's hair bands and metal was it.. as the old guards were getting lame, the stones, albums sucked after you heard the older stuff,, aerosmith was in a funk, foghat was all but dead.. the shining spot was the kinks and their early 80's album give the people what they want.. Even the 90's metal the guitar work is killer, getting past the singer with marbles in his mouth is very hard tho..
never liked the beatles like most do.. I like a few songs.. but not a huge fan, same with stones, and to so degree led zep.. but I think a lot of that has to do with the way the albums were recorded, much of it sounded like crap.. they didn't have that "close your eyes and imagine you are there feel" maybe I was just very picky, but some albums jump off the platter, and others well.. lol
sadly todays music because of the lack of record companies and lables, and the advent of compressed music.. we are back to albums sounding like crap... In an interview Joe Satriani said it's painfull to find engineers that know how to make a recording with any db raise... or db punch , or some headroom.. for that live feel.. of the crash of the high hat, or the guitar coming in.. it's all just flat.. and that just sucks

One of my absolute favorites, I have it on vinyl and will listen to it out in the garage often.

I finally go to see him in concert a few years ago and he was amazing, one of the best entertainers I have ever seen.
