I just didn't like having to wait the extra two minutes before getting back to my panel other than that its about the same. True story

I don't know if its good or bad...lol...never used it before. Just thought it was funny b/c I read that immediately after ordering some. Its probably just glorified flat black lacquer if I had to guess. Thats all I ever used before... but it was only 5 bucks so I gave it a whirl.

MikeyBob Yep, some of that 3M powdered guidecoat and a sanding block (I like my 17" one) do wonders. And yes, the 3M stuff is ridiculously expensive but IMO, totally worth it. Plus its way easier to work with than the SEM spray guide coat, I think.

mitmaks You want to use guide coat when doing your bodywork/sanding primer, use blocks to make sure panels are straight.

NoNoNoNoNoNoNo I used one of those plastic flexible rulers to apply another layer of bondo (No it isn't 1 inch worth of bondo, only 1/8-1/16 thick) and used the flexible ruler to contour with the curves of the panel. I'm going to let it dry and give it the feel test one more time. I think this might just work.

John long Take a 3 foot metal yard stick. Hold it on it's Edge and rock it across the area. You will feel any low spots that can not be seen. Works amazingly well.

novafreek6872 I just wring the sponge out so that its not alot of water going on. Try it. I think mineral spirits would be a bad idea personally. Maybe the guys at your autobody supply could recommend a W&GR that evaps slower.

NoNoNoNoNoNoNo I thought about doing that but I feel like water was always a bit thicker then clearcoat. Which wouldn't really give a 100% accurate look.

I've watched the Ultimate Factory series on History Channel, they had the Lambo factory and their painters would use a special something to check for imperfections (Mineral spirits maybe?) it wasn't water.

How to check for imperfections before painting? Help!

I know there is something out there that you can put on the body panels to check for imperfections before painting. I'm at the primer stage of my paint job and I can feel a slight dip in the panel, but I'm not 100% sure. I tried using Wax/Grease remover to help shine up the panel so I could see the imperfection, but It dries up way too fast.

What do you guys use to help see what a paint job would look like before adding bc/cc

Any help would be appreciated!
