dar and AFR are both quality products.If you need the money for school then thats your best long term investment.
The smaller heads are plenty,depends on the h p you need?

choosing the right heads
Im back with my head spinning around choosing the right set of heads for the setup...
The intake manifold is going to be a Ford Racing Dual plane 1500-6500RPM...
Looking around I have it down to 3 options:
Dart 13211112 - Dart SB-Ford Pro 1 Aluminum
Dart 13111182 - Dart SB-Ford Pro 1 Aluminum
AFR - Airflow Research 1399 - AFR SB-Ford Outlaw Street/Race Aluminum
What would you recommend? I have doubts regarding the Intake ports (cc), combustion chamber (cc for compression reasons) and quality DART vs AFR ¿?

|vinniekq2||when I was figuring my engine( I changed my mind several times) I started pricing parts,then up graded,then decided on a stroker,,,,,etc etc.then I priced out all the suppliers local and mail order. Then I talked to specialty companies. Jeff Lukovic could sell me the parts and do the machine work for me cheaper than I could buy the parts locally.I ended up buying most of my engine parts from him.I ordered the MSD locally and carb (second carb) came from the carb shop,the headers were custom built by Jere Stahls shop,took lots of research,so do not get discouraged,keep in touch here and keep asking questions,,,,because after your project is done you will be helping the next ford guy thats doing what you are doing now|

I was comparing prices between jegs and Summit (pretty much the same), when Im close to ordering I'll try to get a deal, I'll also give dougherbert a call since they handle the parts and I would think are easier to deal with giving they are a smaller company... but whoever gives a better price, shipping charges and customer care will win me over|

|vinniekq2||you have a good start on your wish list. save a few pennies,,, when you are close to buying,contact a couple places before buying and go to an engine builder as they can sometimes give a really good package deal|

So after some reading and googling around, I put up a wishlist... I dont want my engine to blow for a couple hundred bucks I didnt spend so maybe I'll take the build slow so i can save some money in between... Anyways take a look and give me some feedback please!

i have the alu edelbrock victor junior heads with 2x valve springs and triple angled valve seats. think they are a affordable head i feel . work well for me .

|vinniekq2||I use dart heads,never bother with skip white when I heard all the complaints.Sometimes cheap parts are ok...Ive used edlebrock heads on budget engines and dart cast iron heads. maybe buy cheaper castings and install premium valves and use the springs from the cam company|

Both skip white and dougherbert heads have the and flow required for the .605 lift...
I'm leaning towards the dh but googling around its seems skipw aren't so bad also... They aren't afr or top quality but i believe they will surpass original cast ported heads.
Which would y'all recommend?

|vinniekq2||make sure you want to go the big cam route? Then look at the 600 lift cam and find heads that flow the numbers you need to make the horse power you want.Choose parts from there.That cam will make this engine a high rpm performer|

Looking at the cam and money that would be spent on porting heads and new valvetrain Im considering a pair or aluminum cylinder heads... I know I dont have the cash for AFR or trick flow but what affordable make would you recommend??
Im looking at:
Dougherbert cylinder heads
Skip white cylinder heads
They would be assembled for the solid roller .605 lift
Any other budget friendly recommendations? or feedback on these?
