We are not necessarly talking favorite engine, we are talking favorite photo of an engine (or engines in my case). Try to make it a full frame photo of JUST the engine if you can, that is what this is all about.
I have no idea what sparked me to start this thread but I thought it may be fun and the first "Motor" that popped into my head was the Sissell twin engine Chevy six rail. I saw this car at an event and honestly I was suppose to leave, I had somewhere to be but I HAD to hang around to see this car run. It is a friggin work of art!
I would love to hear that Wasp! I have a number of municipal airports around me so planes are often flying overhead. When I hear a radial I am OUT THERE to see what it is. That Wasp, that must be an outrageous sound.

Thanks Bigdog, that is so wild. Ok guys, try to wrap your head around this for a minute. They had to collect parts for this motor, remember it has 28 pistons! It has 56 valves! I am presuming it is two per cyl.
But try to wrap your head around that when you think of the troubles you had rebuilding a V8! All the stupid crap I wasn't expecting with an inline six flathead, how about a 28 cyl radial the size of a VW Bug!

I am more than a bit miffed! I spent over 2 hours looking at photo's trying to find the two I took of the Ardun head/flat head. I found a couple pictures of the car it was in, but not the engine.
Here is the car which I thought was way cool (circa 1982).
Now I need to find those missing photos of history.

That is so friggin awesome! I don't ever remember seeing that. How about this for a Buick Nailhead, what you are looking at is the SR-71 starter motor. Yes ladies and Gentlemen the fastest plane on earth was fired up by a pair of Buick 425's!
It's a "Rotory" motor guys. I have the "Wankl" in my head as a "rotory" motor but THIS is the first use of the term. And YES the motor spins with the wheel!
i thought fo sho you was Bullin me Martin, but NO! but they are on a trolley and not part of the airplane, like a top fuel cars kinda sorta, but not even. hey, cool trivia. never a dull day around here. and what rubber eatin Beaver took those chuncks outta that front tire on that bike, brione'?
At the Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, MI sits a Chrysler tank engine. This was designed to power the Sherman tank and is made up of five, six cylinder engines mounted as a single unit. The five separate distributors can be seen. It was war and they run what they brung.
The 12 blower diesel deal has to be running on alky. Pretty outrageous. Having a hard time counting all 12 blowers...
