if you don't agree with something you vote, no..
washingtons problem is all the pork they add to bills.. they should be forced to make everything a seperate item, let it stand or fall on it's own..
slide'n in aportion funding into a mil.spending bill.. is just wrong..
then those that vote no on the bill, get blasted for not supporting our troops, cause the general populace can't see all the crap added to a bill. and well the media would never tell the truth

|bob70||I agree with the above regarding not holding the media's feet to the fire, so to speak. The reason, sadly enough, is that way too many happen to agree with what they hear from major media. Arguably, it all starts in the homes and in the schools, which prepares people for further indoctrination by the media. Our national reverence for individual responsibility, integrity, hard work, free markets, private property, sanctity of contracts, honesty money, thrift, etc have apparently largely been lost somewhere along the line. The USA was a noble experiment which is facing a serious test to her longterm survival as the "land of the free", and it's not just because of the current administration. The process has been ongoing for decades.|

the same thing can be done to get the news media to report the news, not their agenda.. but we haven't forced the issue, so we get what we get.. biased, b/s news reporting.. why, people can't see how easy it be to fix the media's agenda reporting.. is mind boggling

I know, I know...Chris Rock can say what he likes and get away with it...but thats another arguement

Imus called women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos" | Research | Media Matters for America
Part of the conversation
"McGUIRK: Some hard-core hos.
IMUS: That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know.
McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing.
McGUIRK: The Jigaboos vs. the Wannabes -- that movie that he had"

|poncho62||And, he didnt say frizzy hair, he said "Nappy haired, hos" which is clearly racial.....|

History tells us that great movements sometimes start with small steps in a particular direction. Thanks to RPs tireless efforts, some small steps have taken place and will hopefully continue following his departure. So, I don't think he was simply "taking up a seat". He WAS making a difference, even if the final results are yet to play out. In any event, someone was going to "take that seat". Would we have been better off with an economically ignorant socialist in that seat? Or a war mongering statist? Those seem to be the two most prevalent alternatives.
When you speak of some being out of touch with "today's world", I'm not so sure that they don't understand it. Perhaps they just don't agree with the direction is which it's going. I, for one, applaud that stance as I totally agree we're heading in the wrong direction.
I don't think age has much to do with any of this. There are idiots and geniuses of all ages. It depends on what the person thinks and how they act. I do agree that term limits would be a good thing, but the truth is it will not happen anytime soon, if ever.
Yes we, the people, elect the wrong people to make the decisions which so seriously impact our lives and we, the people are ultimately to blame. Sadly, the citizenry had fallen for the false God of socialism. It will end in tears as it has everywhere it's ever been tried.
Yes, we do spend to much time on social issues better left to the individual as opposed to the legal/political arena.
BTW, the Imus remark about the Rutgers b'ball team to which I believe you're referring was not offensive to many because of any reference to "frizzy hair". It was because he called them "hoes", which is certainly an insult and totally uncalled for. It probably got more press than it deserved, but it was quite offensive, in any event.
Your final statement is totally correct. Until WE change our thinking we'll continue to get the same crap from Washington.

well.. common sense starts with not doing the same thing and thinking it be somehow different..
who keeps sending the same clowns down there again and again..
I mean look around... reid no budget in 4 years but they put him back for another term..
polisie can't bother to read the bills to see whats in it untill they pass it.. and they sent her back for another term..
thats just 2..
no matter if pauls ideas and thinking, if you waas unable to get anything done other than his states pet projects funded.. he was taking up a seat.. part of being down there is to have ideas and explain them so you get others on board.. if you can't do that.. no matter how good your ideals are.. it's a lost cause...
I really think they need an age limit.. as those down there are so out of touch with today world..
come on.. every election.. abortion becomes what people worry about.. or now that and gay marrage.. in hinge their vote on that crap... or if they cheated on their wife or husband.. THERE IS THE PROBLEM...
if someone says something offensive .. people will email vendors that place ad's for that time slot.. but can't be bothered to do the same with the news media..
a guy says the girls basketball player has frizzy hair. and all hell breaks loose and the emails the stations and the vendors that have ads in that time slot.. but can't be bothered to do the same to FORCE the media to report the news witout bias..
look in the mirror as WE are the reason washington doesn't work.. and is the mess it is.. WE are the problem as we care more if a guy got laid or his/her thoughts on aportion, or gay marrage... all non issues to running the country...
and untill WE change our thinking.. we'll get the same crap from washington..
