4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Kudos for going down through the vent stack. I would never have thought of that.
I know it's the way most plumbers would come out and do it. But damn I am glad I got into the other stuff because going thru the vent would never have fixed my sink and now that is working like a charm too. It's all good at the Martin house.

I need to do something for the brakes in my Gran Sport, I am thinking that damn cam just doesn't provide enough vacuum. It's my next project.

Today I had a Pugsy day, I SOLVED my problem with my washer draining! WHOO HOO. I went and rented the big boy and went up on the roof and put 70 feet of snake into that bad boy. Ran a load of wash on high water level and it drained perfectly! WHOOO HOOOO the hell of the drain is over!

Not hot rod stuff, but major accomplishment.

Nothing worse than plumbing problems that have to do with slimy, fudged up drain pipes. :pain:

Shades of MartinSr's washing machine wars. I spent half the day (the part where I was NOT watching the final NASCAR race of the year) cleaning the fins and etc under the fridge.
Yowzaa!
It is astonishing how much *&%$#*! there was under there and how much quieter the fridge runs now! Likely gonna save me a bunch in power costs, too, 'cause it'll be so much more efficient!

Took 2 hours with compressed air, vacuum cleaner, back to air blow, vacuum up more junk, repeat. Gotta make a note to do it once a year instead of about 5-6 years since I did it last!

You're supposed to clean fridges somewhere? :drunk:

Got the carpets cut and sewed together, and sealed the backside of the seams.

Then got the red window tint out and did the side windows red, like the old 60's gassers.

Tomorrow I'll get started on installing the new carpets I built, and then reinstall the seats with the 1" lowered bases.

Right on.

I didn't know carpets could be sewn together like that.

Neither did I, but gave it a shot and it worked great. I went to the Fabric Depot and asked the lady if they had thread for sewing carpet and she showed me some that is rot resistant. She also set me up with a pack of needles, and the two items came to a whopping $3.07, so I figured why not. The RTV Ultra Black was just an afterthought to keep the edges and thread together, and keep glue from seeping at the seam when I glue it down.

In this case a match stick and the quart of paint I bought to spray the engine compartment. At work we have some awesome little brush touch things, I think I have some in the garage I'll snap a photo.

Well, family is here it is officially Thanksgiving day. I spent the morning cleaning up out in the garage and just started into the Gran Sport. I had forgotten the turn signals weren't working so I spent some time on that to no avail. This weekend I will dive into that.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I buy those cheap small touch up paint brushes from Harbor Freight. Then I cut the bristles off so they're only 1/8" or so long. They work great for touchup if they're shorter.

so i get a call from the owner of the gym here in town that i work for occasionally to come in today ( i generally do all the machine repair and maintenance )

and i find this waiting for me

can anyone quess what it is???

this should help lol

of course he bought them used and had friends help him take them apart and bring them over, but they didnt label any of the wiring or how anything went together grrrrrrrrrrr

i swear i wish sometimes i just keep my mouth shut about stuff i can do or fix

the worst part about it is the room he wants me to install them into has a celing that is about 6 inches to low to fit the machines so ontop of it i have to raise the ceiling up

if u still dont know they are stand up taning machines ( ahem skin cancer machines)

quess i cant complain though when it comes to work like this he never asks how many hours or for a price, its mor elike do whatever it takes and let me know what i owe u in the end. not to mention work is work

besdies i get a free membership though i really should start working out i think in the year ive been there ive worked out for about a week lol, and they do have alot of nice machines lol this is just the main room

Well, today I got back on one of my cars! Woooo hoooo!

A few days ago I went to unlock my door on the Rambler (Marge) and the lock was broken, so today I pulled that part and found that the cylinder control shaft (what ever the factory called it I have no idea) had broken off do to a REALLY bad design. But at the same point, did they plan on some dude driving this car every day 53 years after it was made? I doubt it, anyway I had some parts from the parts car and got that back together.

So I figured while it was apart I would repair the check strap that is worn out and keep the door from smashing my head against the drip rail, oh yeah that will smart I'll tell you. The wire thingie that the grabber thingie on the check strap grabs to hold the door open was pretty worn out.

Thank goodness I have parts I salvaged from the parts car (that apparently had a lot less miles than Marge) and got it all done.

Tomorrow I'll re-install the door panel and Marge is back on the road.
