Probably has a bad driveshaft, like most all late model Jeeps.
The shafts have non-serviceable u-joints.

|prostreet6t9||To my knowledge No.. The dealer will want to sell you a complete shaft.|

If your chain wore thru the case you would be leaking Red atf. Your problem is probably in that funky joint assy in the front.
A driveline shop could make you a real shaft for the rear.

|LATECH||Sounds like the chain is bad, could be streched and worn slap through the case. I have seen that.|

08 jeep wrangler slinging grease and making a scraping sound near transfer case
08 jeep wrangler is slinging grease on the frame. grease seems to be coming from the yolk going into the transfer case . cant see exactly were its coming from but because of the spot its hiting the frame it has to be coming from the yolk. its also been making the metel scraping sound for awhile. its been getting louder. is there a bearing in the yolk that come be bad. it doesnt have a u joint on that end. only something that looks like several metal plates bolted together. thought it might be fluild be the fluild is red and full. this is dark gray grease.
