Cam Research Corporation - Index is my answer for Ford cams and valve train..only reason for a new chain is that the old one needs replacemant. off set cam keys are used to get the cam timing altered and yes you do need to degree the cam to get it tuned correctly..Best done with some dyno runs to see the real results..

you will need to buy/borrow a degree wheel.some engines had the camshaft slightly retarded, lol, sorry,
the factory cam is lazy and late in timing. Buy a better cammshaft with near stock specs and a little extra exhaust timing, upgrade your exhaust system and retune ignition curve with more initial spark timing. should spin the duallies a little with full throttle launch if automatic

hopping up my 460
I have an 89 460 in an F-350 dually. I have heard they come retarded from the factory and I need to get a timing chain set to give it what it needs. Can anyone help me with the selection? does it need to go to 0 degrees TDC? I want to just wake it up. Any other tips would be great.
