|bob70||I don't know if there's any "rule" on that but I'd get it pretty close being sure to leave enough room to allow for a small amount of flexing and still not hit the radiator. Maybe 1/2 inch?|

|bob70||Wouldn't a shroud on a front mounted pusher fan be counter productive in that it would limit air flow when the car was moving down the road?|

With Fans mounted high & low it will give more clearance between the Pulley & Rad.

Is this fan labeled as a "pusher" or is it a puller that you turned the blade backwards to make it a pusher?
Reason I say this is you want a true pusher fan like a Spal. They work very well and had one on my 600HP motor for 9 yrs with no problems.

Never did what you are proposing. Never needed to because I will only use crank-driven fans. Snow White makes a short water pump for the SBF and it should be possible to mount the radiator a little further ahead with some tinkering.
If I were going to though, I think I'd mount a full shroud on the front of the radiator with two holes in the shroud for two fans. If I couldn't find a commercially-available shroud, I'd fabricate one from sheet aluminum and pop rivet it together.

Electric Fan Crearance
How close to the radiator fins should the blades or shourd be mounted ? It's a pusher fan going into a 36 Ford with a small block. Theres a very small shroud around the blades.
