rdogoli I have a 69 429 and with forged flap tops it has 11.3 compression. i believe the 68 also has quinch type combustion chambers, rocker studs from factory and 209 intake valve. good luck in your project.
07-27-2002 03:37 PM Sounds like you are pretty nit-pickey! I imagine that 429 in your Bronco with the setup you described will do a great job of getting you any one of a bunch of interesting moving violations in a big hurry!

Tom Hey BBB I think that 429 is 10.5 but not real sure I have a 70,it's 10.5 and a 70 460 it's 10.5. I also have the performer and a Lunati cam at 550/550/275/107 but haven't run them yet, just gathering parts for a future build.Asfor the mounts if they can be modified cheaper,go for it ,it means the cash can go into somthing else.

Couple 429 Questions

Ok, '68 429 out of a Thunderbird. Its got flat top pistons so I'm pretty sure its got the 11:1 compression.

Intake - I got the Edelbrock Perfromer intake. Someone told me that its pretty much like the stock intake and I won't see much HP gains. Any opinions? Oh yeah, there will be an Edelbrock 800cfm carb on top and I have the Comp Cams 270H, has like a .513 lift I think.

Engine Mounts - This 429 is going in my '78 Bronco. I can buy L&L mounts for $100, or I can use 390FE mounts. Turn em, drill the hole a lil bigger and they work. I know two guys with Broncos that used the FE mounts. I just can't see spending a $100 bucks for "special" mounts when factory FE mounts will work. (Oh, and I've also heard that the L&L mounts don't just drop in like they're supposed to, you have to modify the tower to accept them.)

Ideas and Opinions are welcomed. Thanks!
