tm454 You are looking for more than just a C, there should be like 7 numbers and letters on the flat spot just under the alternator maybe more. Use some emery paper to clean up the flat spot and see if you find more numbers.

Forsaken502 Look for a stamped number on the front of the block, to the left and near the top of the timing chain cover, just under the alternator. You may have to take the alternator off and use a scraper/engine degreaser to read the number. That will tell you where it was made and what type of vechile it was put in, as well as some other info.

tnoftsger All that those numbers tell us is that is a 350cid block from between 1970-76. If it seems underpowered, then give us all the specifics about the engine and maybe we can suggest something.
