Cam Quest download
Estimated difference in HP between a 2 bbl (350 cfm) and a 600 cfm 4 bbl:
• All 2bbl peaks are: hp @ 4000 rpm/tq @ 2000 rpm regardless of cam (of these three).
• All hp peaks are at 4000 rpm, regardless of cam or 2bbl or 4bbl carb.
• With 4bbl, tq peak is 500 rpm higher w/each cam change.

|Jkingof956||i just installed a muffler, i will be looking for a posi unit, and going with 700r4 fully build, another reason why so cheap build is because i already have most of the upgrades some were free and ready to install|

|BuzzLOL||.. Those cars were known for terrible 9-11 MPG and sluggish performance with dished pistons and big 76cc chamber heads... nominal 8.5:1, but actually ~7.6:1 compression ratio. I'd definitely go stock type 4-eyebrow flat top pistons or even 2-eyebrow hypereutectic flat or minidome pistons such as KBs if they fit your budget to get power up throughout the RPM range and cruising MPG up near 17-20 MPG. That cam needs at least 9.5 and preferably 10.5-11.0 compression ratio to run STRONG, which is what you must have to win your race. Power should be 350-400 HP with that cam and Vortec heads depending on other final components used. Torque peak around 4000 RPMs, HP peak around 5500-5700 RPMs, shift at 6,000+ RPMs when racing. The factory RPM range suggested for that 214/224 cam is conservatively much lower because they don't know if you're putting it into a slug stock 7.6:1 engine, which most prolly are, yielding disappointing results. Borrow some short 275-50R-15 (or shorter) drag radials for the track. A 2-bbl. carb. would run fine but start noticably falling on its face at a low 3500 RPMs. Put a properly tuned vacuum secondary 750CFM carb. on it. 600 CFM carb.s usually come default tuned for 305" and slug 350" engines. You'll prolly need the 3000 stall converter to win your race.|

good luck the mustangs almost 900 lb lighter..
my dads old olds 77 cutlass s was 4178 lb with power windows/locks tilt and buckets console..
they took alot of metal out in 78. as my SS loaded is 3416

|BigEd36||Jkingof956, with the Summit K1103 cam and Vortec heads I believe you should be in the area of your 350 HP goal. The GMPP CT 350 (350 CI 350 HP) crate circle track engine uses a stock 350 shortblock with vortec heads and the #24502476 cam (.435"/.460" lift, 212*/222* @ .050", 112* LSA). Your Summit K1103 has just slightly more lift and duration (.442"/.465", 214*/224* at .050", 112* LSA).|
