My technique is to square the rear end to the front end and not worry about squaring the rear axle by itself. I jack up the car at both ends and level it. Put the rear jackstands under the rear axle so the springs are loaded Drop a plumb line from the lower inner control arm mounting bolts and mark the floor. Then drop a line from the rear axle at a consistent reference spot like the rear lower coil-over mounting bolts and mark that point on the floor. Then measure longitudinally and diagonally between the front and rear marks. Adjust your rear 4-bar until the rear is square and perpindicular to the front suspension and the wheelbase is where you want it. Then set the pinion angle with the upper rear trailing arms. At the same time, you will be adjusting the panhard bar to help square everything up as well.

I find the center of the frame , front point and rear point as the starting line If the car is fully assembled it's more difficult to move the car around. With just the chassis, the frame axles, engine and trans I use my roll around gantry crane to move things around. I have some RV-trailer leveling stands with the screw height, easier to level everything. a laser level and digital level. Today there is 100 G worth of tools. 55 years ago I got more done with just a grinder, drill, and old buzz box welder.

|66nova383||Timothale thanks for the help,So I make a grid then center and square the chassis to the grid,then at that point I square the suspension to the grid.Is this correct?|

I like to do a grid on the level concrete floor then spray the chalklines with cheap hairspray so they won't scuff off. then measure and square from the grid. Square first, then front castor and rear pinion angle.

tips on Squaring up 4 bar suspension
Well I am nearing the final stages of my Austin project it has 4 bar front and rear with coil overs and panhard bars.Now Im at the point where I need to square it up and set the pinion angle.I could use a little help on how to go about this.Do I just measure cross ways until I get equal measurements at fixed points?Then set pinion after it is square.Thanks for the help in advance.
