Different idea for running air lines?

I have researched diagrams on the way to plumb your shop with air lines from the compressor. In just about every case they have a trunk line running around the perimiter of the shop or one trunk line running down the wall on one side, with your off shoots coming off the trunk line.

My question is why could I not run one trunk line down the center of the garage length ways, have my off shoots coming off of that, go over to the wall, and down to about chest height with an air filter/regulator and drain valve. The garage is 24X40 and the off shoot for painting would be at the far end of the garage, with the compressor on the opposite end. The trunk line would be slanted downward, with a 6 foot verticle pipe on the end with a drain valve.

I would have enough length for the air to cool, and it seams a lot more simple to do it this way.

Am I wrong or right?
