|Sky65||Thanks for the replies. The belt looks to be running true. The water-pump pulley has a step worn in it. It's a little hard to get to the crank pulley so I can't be sure of it. The alt is steel and ok. I'll try and get a picture.|

I have over 20k miles on all of my aluminum pulleys. The v-belt ones have almost no wear showing however the 8mm blower pulleys have about 1 more year before they will have to be replaced. My mistake for not getting them with hard anodizing. Apparently the lower pulley gets sand and road grit trapped in it and the stuff goes around and around doing it's thing. The blower belt shows no wear at all.
I put a direction arrow on each belt so it gets installed going the same direction each time I remove them. Whether it does any good or not I don't know. It's just an old habit from industry.

|vinniekq2||when I was in high school I made an alternator pulley. It was cast aluminum.after a couple years it looked dull but didnt show any wear.|

Aluminim Pulley Life
What is the life expectancy of aluminum pulleys on a SBC? Is there a brand that is better than the others? Put some cheapies on the 65 Corvette about 5 years ago and they have noticeable wear. I think it's time to replace them.
