boothboy So far from the answers we have received neither of you guys were front end mechanics These finger placements in this configuration were used in a specific front end procedure. They told when the repair was at it's best.
Today there is no need to use this hand configuration to complete the repair.

And no, they were not part of a secret front end mechanic's handshake.

BuzzLOL . Trying to get your face slapped... or figuring out a toe adjustment... hey, why not use your toes?

496CHEVY3100 Mixture screw adjustment ,or a serious nose pickin .

boothboy Your a old time front end man. While doing a vital action in keeping your customer happy you form your hand in the manner below while making a adjustment. What repair are you making?

BB

Note: The pinky finger will be a little more parallel to the index while making the adjustment and your hands are a lot more dirty!

BuzzLOL . Here's Moser's website that designed those heads with Harvey Crane of Crane cams... Apparently Moser is not related to the Moser Engineering axles people in Indiana...

Richard Moser

. There were also Gurney, WesLake, Dominion, and Arao DOHC SBC heads...

BuzzLOL . Falconer or somebody also made DOHC SBC... wasn't very powerful... don't know if they ever refined them... of course, Mercury Marine also built the Lotus designed LT5 DOHC SBC engines for Corvettes... although LSx SBC's soon had more power for much much less money... to the chagrin of those who shelled out for the LT5's...
