kso Yep. X-body Seville and F-body Camaro are the same in those areas.

Only thing is, again...you're lucky to be finding those parts these days. Sooo common in 1980.

jandre Whew! That is a bunch of great stuff! Thanks for all of the information, it really helps me out. Would the seville spindle swap out with the camaro spindle? If so, could I just change out the spindle and rotors but put them on the camaro A arms?

enjenjo 73 to 97 full size spindles bolt into a 75 Camaro. Make sure they have the 5" pattern, because the 4 3/4" bolt pattern used the same spindle as the Camaro with 11" brakes. Use the spindle, rotor, and caliper.

Speedway offers a 5" bolt pattern 11" rotor that will fit a Camaro, but they have 5/8" lug bolts.

kso That's correct about the 5-on-5 being the pattern for the 12" rotor only, which is then on it's specific steeering knuckle. Found on full-size cars as an option but getting scarce in the junkyards. They are probably most common on late-'70s Cadillac Sevilles with the 4-wheel disc option...if you see an X-body Seville w/ rear discs, then it has the big front rotors w/ 5-on-5 all around.

Probably you can't turn down a 12" rotor to the smaller size, I believe the center "hub" is also bigger and you can't turn that down too...but you'd have to check. Me, I don't have one handy.

Those brakes, f & rr, are a virtual bolt-in for a 2nd-gen Camaro...if you were lucky enough to come across a set, why not switch 'em all out and get your bolt pattern at the same time? I have that on a '70 El Camino (in which case I had to use a 1LE rotor to get back to the 4 3/4", and slot the rear disc hat holes) and it stops really well. The downsides are, crappy e-brake setup and them are some heavy front knuckles.

Or...re-drill your stockers, if they'll take it and you're happy with your brakes the way they are (that would be the easiest way), however sometimes there's cast-in ribs on the back side which prevent drilling another pattern...those ribs may not be present on replacement rotors, you might ask your parts store to pull some out of the box to see.

joe_padavano I just did some checking. All of the GM rotors with the 5 x 5" bolt circle (full size police/taxi, half ton trucks, Astro vans) are 12" rotors. The wheel bearings are the same as on the Camaro, but the rotor is too large to clear the caliper mounting ears on the knuckle. Most of these are 1.25" thick, but some are the same 1" thick as your current rotors. Unfortunately, to make these work you'd need to turn the OD down to clear. All the 11" rotors (even from the B-body cars) have the 5 x 4.75" bolt circle.

A lot of things to check , rotor width, offset, caliper width. someone with a brake lathe might be able to trim the rotor down. some one used to turn down Ranger 5 bolt rotors to fit on Mustang II spindles. still use stock smaller calipers.

cobalt327 There are also adapters that will allow the 5 on 5 wheels to be used on a 5 on 4-3/4" pattern. They add about 1" per wheel to the width.

joe_padavano The full size cars use the same front wheel bearings as the second gen F-body, so you can swap the rotors for the 5x5 pattern. You cannot change the rotor diameter, however, since the caliper mounting ears are an integral part of the steering knuckle.

I recall hearing B-car spindles/rotors will work, gives the possibility of upgrading to 12" rotors, too.

Other option is to have a machine shop redrill the stock rotors for a 5 on 5 pattern.

Howdy, is there a rotor with 5 X 5 bolt pattern that can be swapped out for the stock camaro (1975) rotors? I hear that the impala or cadillac may work. Is there a spindle with the larger bolt pattern that will work on the camaro front clip?
