MARTINSR That "restored" looking one is pretty funky, don't get it. But the Gasser looking shortened ones are cool I think,

MARTINSR We are discussing what these terms mean, what discussing something with other people tossing out their ideas don't you get?

I agreed with you but elaborated, what did I do wrong?

It's all a matter of semantics, that isn't "shortening", you are right that if it were a person they would be getting "shorter" if you sectioned a foot out of the middle. But for some reason sectioning something like a building or car or something that shape isn't called "shortening". But to "shorten" a car would be this.

But again, this is all crap and you say tomato and I say, well, tomato.

Brian
So what's your point ???

I can't believe you lived on the west coast with some of the best kustom builders and never heard of pancaking...

I'm sure if you walked into george barris, Big Daddy Roth, And gene winfield's shop and asked them,, They would sure let you know....
I really don't think they will say..LET'S SEE !!! It's called this on the east coast. It's called this on the west coast,, And I don't know what the h*** they call it on the south coast !!!!

Now you messed it all up and we have to discuss "Sectioned". In customizing it is commonly where something is cut and the profile lowered just as on pancaking the hood. It is not making something shorter or longer. This is clearly explained in the three glossary's Randy posted.

Edit: LOL, I took one of those definitions "Custom" and it's found at 13 different sites. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&s...w=1360&bih=667

Brian
Ok, we have "Pancaking", what was it on the La Jolla?

NEW INTERIORS Last time I checked I think Foose is on the west coast... He used that word on the west coast,, I have seen it used on the south coast,, And also on the east coast... Not sure what shop's your hanging out in... But it has been used ever since I could remember..

Taken the chrome of a car and welding the seams up was called shaving the hood,, Some even called it dechroming a car..

Section is when you take a section out the car in make it shorter..

Just like some say channeling a car body,, It's the same as a body drop,,

Pancaking is when you flatten something out...

I really don't think it's a regional thing... It's been said on to many coast for a long time..
