I am also looking at the dry lube film. I wanted to use it on my cam and lifters anyone tried this stuff.
You can put it on valve guides and cam loabes along with pistons skirts and other wear areas.

Hopeing it will stop and first small marks in the cam lobe that lead to it being wiped.

Yeah it looks like it will be easy to do. Just wandering if this is the same as having it done by a shop. They also sell the lube coatings for the skirts of the pistons.
Also really worried about it flaking off and trashing a cylinder wall. Ceramic is very hard much harder than cast.

Sure looks like you could do this in your shop..just have to follow instructions to the letter to get a good result..

I have used the piston top coating many times, but I have never done the application myself. I use only coated bearing in race engines. And, I get the inside and outside of race engine headers coated, mainly to keep underhood temps down.
I dont have any empirical data on the use of the coatings but I use extremely light weight pistons in oval track engines and the thin deck thickness of the piston is a concern for me.

Help with ceramic piston and valve coatings
Has any one tried this coating. They also sell a baked in coating not sure if there is any difference.

I want to coat my piston tops and valve heads was thinking of sending them out and realized they used a product that can be used at home. Even the baked in coating only requires 300 degrees so a yardsale toaster oven can be used to bake it in the garage.
These coatings are used to provide a thermal barrier to the pistons, valves and combustion chambers in an effort to reduce wear and heat that can lead to detonation and preignition.
Let me know if you have tried it. I hear a lot of the engine builders out there have been using it for some time. But was thinking they used a more factory only process.
