dwwl Are there other 200 4r valve bodies that have the purple paint. I have one that has the purple paint on it but it wasn't out of a monte carlo eather. I was told there are some other number on the valve body that tell if its the better one. there is suppose to be a D with a number after it. The high the number, the better the valve body callibration. This valve body has a D-10. My other valve body on the second tranny i'm rebuilding has a D-7. Don't know it that means anything?

dwwl after reading your post, i went and looked at it again. I think its kc7 on the valve body and not kcz. Im wondering if the valve body may of been changed in the tranny at some time in the past. No matter what, i now have extra parts for my other two 200 4r trannys.

dwwl I though the same thing about the tag bing ruined and some using a different tag, but that doesn't expain why there is no serial number on it. I don't think someone can just get a plain jan tag with no serial number and put it on. The only etched letters are the cz f, the other numbers look very much like the other number on my other 200 4r's. I with he would of kept the other parts, such as the governor and speed-o gears, that would of told me alot ilf this was something different.

That is odd having 2 different Codes. The original CZ Tag may have been mangled & someone just copied the Info onto the HF Tag.
The HF would indicate a Hurst, F = 2004R Trans.
196 = Julian Date, 196th day of Yr.
86 = 1986
2 = 2nd Shift
CZ = Monte Carlo SS w/3.73 Gear.
F = 2004R
1565 = Serial Number.

My transmission identifier codes sheet doesn't help me any. Yes, it is a 200 4r valve body. It also has D-10 on it as well.
Ink Stamp should be KC or KZ with a number afterward KC7, KZ7 etc...
KC = Olds, B or D body w/307eng. & 2.73 gear.
KZ = Hurst Olds/Cutlass 442, 307eng. & 3.73 gear.

KZ code would also have a Purple stain like PVC pipe cleaner, like this BR3 Vbody below.
