Single-pattern cams VS dual-pattern cams., What is the difference between the two cams in performance, torque & Horsepower... For my small block i'm using AFR 210cc Competition heads I have 650lift hyd roller spring on the heads. I looking for help if u can explain, which one of the cams would be the best for a Street/Strip application for my SBC 383 engine to get me close to the 550 to 600 HP range to the flywheel but still can give excellent torque on the bottom end too? Just looking for some help if anyone can answer these questions for me, I'm just trying to build a Mean Street Machine...
1. Looking for the right duration @.50 to get me 560 to hp and good torque
2. will a hyd roller cam @.50 247/255 600/600lift lobe seperation 110 get me close to 560 to 600 with out losing bottom end power. Is this over kill for the street even tho its a street/strip engine build
You will need a solid roller cam to get 550 plus HP from a N.A. 383.
850 cfm,carb or better,single plane intake,probably 11Plus:1 CR bigger tube headers
Naw thats not true I know I dont need a solid roller to get 550hp, I def can use a Hyd roller camshaft to get 550+HP just looking for the right HYD roller cam. I using AFR 210 competition head Best flowing heads on the Market.
2 reasons to use a dual pattern cam.longer exhaust duration can help weak exhaust ports.
using longer duration on the exhaust side makes some cams act like they are bigger than they appear. closing the intake valve soon allows more time to compress intake charge, and generate more cylinder pressure
Thanks, And yeah I seen that video i called them about the Hyd roller cam they used they told me they dont give out there specs of the cam... No help really
113155-10S NA 300 308 247 255 .600 .600 110 106 Hyd. Hyd. 1,2
3000-6600 Small Base Circle, Hot Street/Brackets. Requires aftermarket heads, 3500+ stall.
110753-10S NA 277 287 245 255 .600 .600 110 106 .022 .022 1,2,5
3200-7400 Mid range torque with top end horsepower. 10.0:1 CR
This is a comparison ,one hydraulic, the second one solid,,,[/Q
Thanks, yeah I wanted to go Hyd roller cam just looking for the right cam to get me in the 550+hp range... Im using the AFR 210cc competition heads Best flowing heads on the Market.
AFR heads are great. You have 300 CFM potential.Look at the 2 cams I posted ,similar by the numbers, but the solid appears to have a higher RPM range,,, there are reasons.
Why do you want to use a hydraulic?
note in the video the builder states that his carb is good for 20 more horse power when it could say use this carb with "these" parts?
you might consider 220 AFR heads?
I stepped up to AFR 227s
If you want to street drive this "550" HP engine, then consider a 434?
Yeah Im just trying to stick with my sbc 383... An I kno I can get 550hp or better just looking for the right cam, I have all the goodies to back that up for my engine, I just want all that hp coming from a 383 stroker.
