LOL, I have posted the photos of my chopped top 64 Nova SS. Yep, with hindsight there is a lot we would do different.

But on the same note, what if we did everything as planned, we would miss out on a lot of treasures in life that just fall in our lap. I live with what I have and love it baby.

#1: When I turned 16 I was looking for a car. The folks across the street had a '63 split window Vette, completely torn apart in their barn. The old man said he'd sell it to me for $600. I needed something that I could actually drive to school and work, I passed up the deal (circa 1976).

#2: Back in 1977 a friend wrecked his Torino and needed another car. I told him about a '67 Mustang fastback sitting at a neighbor of my grandfathers. He bought the car that afternoon. It was a low mile big block 4 speed car, running condition, low miles, no rust. He bought the car for $800 and drove it for the next 10 years.

#3: About 10 years ago my boss was restoring a '67 Camaro and needed a tach - speedo cluster. I happened to have one and gave it to him. Shortly thereafter he ended up not finishing the car, and sold the big block tach-speedo cluster on ebay for $350 dollars.

I haven't sold at a swap meet since ebay. After going to a small meet last year put on by the Early Ford V8 Club like in the good old days I just may go sell at one again, that was really fun. But the big Goodguys ones, thanks but no thanks, I will sell on ebay first.

Yep, things happen once in a while.I have sold thousands of items and had very few problems. Paypal is the way to go with the payments, they will even back you if someone rips you off. Before Paypal I sold hundreds upon hundreds of items and they simply sent a check and then I cashed it and when it cashed I mailed the part. One day I joked to my wife how I had found a way to distribute our address so people could send me money. :D No kidding, that is what it felt like, it was soooo easy.

Well, now Ebay gets a little bigger slice, and with all the "stores" and retailers and crap it is a cluttered up mess compared to the simple amateur auction site it was when I started in 99. But it still works pretty good. I bought a bunch of stuff for the Rambler when I was doing it, NOS brake shoes wheel cylinders, shocks, An NOS horn button, I bought all kinds of stuff for it. A crap load of stuff I have for my Gran Sport and all the 53 Corvette motor stuff I am collecting for my truck, all on ebay.

One of the best things you can do is to set your expectations a little low. Say you buy a blower manifold, no matter what the guy says expect it to be just a little shy of how good he tells you. He says there are no stripped holes, expect there to be at least one, you know what I mean? That way when it comes and there IS one, it isn't a big deal you have already accepted that. If it comes and there are no stripped holes you are THRILLED. That is how I look at anything sight un-scene. My brother will have super high expectations and no kidding, over all these years he still does it and often gets disappointed, you have to set your expectations lower. If you are ok with that manifold with one stripped hole you need to fix, they be ok with it and buy it, if it has one you fix it if not you hit the jackpot.

Yep I have found that the less you think about the bad things the more they go away. The less effect they have on your life, I spend a lot more time looking up a the beautiful clouds leaving less time for the funky to be remembered. :D

I sold a mini mini van to a young couple with 3 kids, they were all crammed in a VW bug when they came to see the Dodge Colt Vista Van I had for sale. I was asking $1350 for it,( paid $400 for it, fixed the bad diaphragm on the carb and cleaned the interior up real nice.)
They looked it over, set the kids car seats in it to make sure they fit, did a test drive. Said they really would like to buy it and could give me $975 down and make $100 a month payments for the balance. I said ok. Signed the title over to them, they handed me their money. I handed her back a hundred dollars and told her, you don't have any payments, its all yours. They both cried. Young family trying to make it, no way I could take all their cash on hand or payments. I still made decent money, and their kids still got to have new shoes.
