Save some money for rearend mods. The 1st GEN CTS-V's have glass rearends. Nice cars though.

I'll be using a 06-07 model, right before the price got outrageous, still an LS2 and 6 speed which isn't a bad base to start with- and 4 doors and leather (without a truck bed).
I'll post pics in a few days, I cant upload pics from the ****ty phone I have but I should be getting a new iphone 5 in a few days so I'll take pics then and maybe a video too if I can figure it out.
My car list is:
'78 Bobcat in 4 colors with a "semi circle track" engine that is running lower compression for 87 octane. (9.8SCR, 140lbs cranking compression), when it gets warm I have all the parts to swap EDIS on it as well as "bike carbs".
'78 280Z in black epoxy primer (waiting for warmer weather to sand and paint) currently has a modified stock L28 and 5 speed, working on a sbc 302 and T5 that is about 2/3's done
'72 Cutlass has a rebuild and modified TH350 mated to a rebuilt and modified Olds 350, only thing it needs is to be stripped down to steel and repainted, which I'll probably send out to have done.
'09 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L 6 speed auto- the only thing I have changed on it is the tires, wiper blades, and oil (my "I dont have time to mess with it" car)
My new job starts Monday which came with a 18k/yr pay raise which will help fund the CTSV build but I'll probably trade the truck in for it when I buy it.

Later this year I'll be starting a CTSV build and it may be in the 10 second range, but that's not really a goal, my main intent is to provide a reasonable clone to a SCCA CTSV except with a full interior.
I don't go to the 1/4 mile track much so I build for the street I do drive on. Many people on here think that's stupid and I understand their POV but I'd rather have a car I can use anytime I want than a trailer queen.

|s-10again!||i locally found a cam for this engine build. it is edelbrock brand cam and lifter kit w/ edelbrock double roller timing chain and gear set. for $120. it is in194- ex214 dur. in.398 - ex.442 lift. lsa is 112 but it sounds like the right cam for my setup and its cheap and name brand. is edelbrock cams good? the numbers sound small on the intake but maybe 1.52 rockers would help a little? as long as geometry is good? would this cam be compareable to or better for my build goals than the summit #2 cam i was considering? the purchase value is with the edelbrock in my eyes. dont want to make a mistake.|

|s-10again!||allright, i think i kno what i want to do for this 305 thing. took a little advise from f-bird and i am going to invest in an intake manifold for vortecs(taking opinions on intake choice), check, resurface and then reshen up and little die grinder action of my pair of l31 vortecs as well as add some roller tip rockers with the grooved fulcrum balls, .015 head gasket, summit #2 hydraulic flat camshaft and lifters, double roller. block will go to the machine shop to be checked and bored to .040 to match summit brand hyper flattop 4 valve .040 over's. summit $120 entire distributor kit everything but spark plugs. plugs will be AC-MR44T's or AC-MR44LTS's(taking opinions on plugs as well). patriot s-10 mid length 1.5" tube 2.5" collector headers with true duals 2" with h pipe(olso considering exhaust ideahs). carb will be a rochester Q-jet set up lean. any rochester guys chime in with jet considerations. i have hardly a clue on resetting a carb to a different engine. i can clean and reset one that ran before no problems but i have a 350 carb i want to use for the 305. my guess is mileage and response will suffer unless i change a few things(correct me if i am wrong please). ive decided that this engine will be in the truck for a long time so i should make it at least a good engine on a budget instead of a low buck pile of money. this engine will be highly satisfying to me. please add to my setup here especially if its a cheap or free upgrade with any insight. should i open up oil galleys deburr water jackets...also how do you "port match" I LOVE to tinker. thanx|

I've had it at the track a couple times and it runs 10.0X's on a easy tune. If I lean on it a little I've ran some high 9.90's on Big Hoosier's. I'm hoping I can best that with some slicks and put the motor on kill. Lately I've just been doing the car show's and cruise inn's and working on the Red 68.

I joined because I share a passion for cars, fast or slow. I've been building race cars since I was 16 and love to share some of the things I've learned over the years...and I also enjoy learning new things as well. I certainly dont know everything and wouldnt claim to. I also dont have an ego that gets in my way of learning.

This is our busy time in the build/parts business so I'm on the site and then not.
I wouldn't recommend a RV style cam for your 305.I think it will fall short of your expectations.
I won't answer your banter from either of you guys.But still haven't seen pixs of the 10 second truck or of the time slip.
