I've used DC5020 clear, I had good results with hit before so I'm using it and for the price I pay for it, you can't beat it.

|69 widetrack||Your right Deltron has variants whereas Omni only has one formula per code.|

|mitmaks||Lots of pearl in this one, color really looks nice. Omni didn't cover well at all but Deltron was thin as well, however Deltron had factory matching paint while Omni was way off.|

The pictures look great...there is a big difference between Omni and Deltron when it comes to coverage isn't there.

|mitmaks||Well I shot it last night. It took whole quart of Omni and it barely started to cover. Then I shot 2 coats of Deltron to even out metallics and blend into quarters.|

|mitmaks||I did this years ago, when I was painting guy's boat. He wanted blue and I found some mismatched blue metallic paint on shelf. I didn't have enough to do the job so I bought some good paint and shot it over mismatch, turned out great.|

This is a good tip. I'm sure there are those that will argue this technique, but we have been doing it for sometime with the higher priced colors. Also a good money saving tip with highly transparent colors to find a color as close as possible in the cheaper lines to cover everything so you are not trying to hide gray primer/sealer with the transparent colors. Best of luck to you, hope everything turns out great. Happy New Years

|mitmaks||Thanks for the tip, I might try that. Anything to help save customer money helps.|

Omini is about 30.00 a guart plus 100.00 for a pint of the good stuff mixed at 1:1 would give you 3 sprayable qts that should be plenty,so you'll be at 130.00 plus reducer (good reducer) compared to 500.00 and thats just the base...but you'll know for sure when you go around the car the first time how much it'll take..A pint of the actual color will be enough though.
The last car I did was 96.00 a pint for Chroma base, PPG was even higher (bourdeau red) 08 GM

|mitmaks||It's Cypress Green Pearl, G82P real nice color imo. A quart of paint is $202 from local PPG jobber.|

You can also buy a qt of omini (30-40.00) to use for the first 2-3 coats and a pint of the good stuff if you dont have the left overs...I saved about 600.00 on the last all over I did this way...The price of paint is getting outragous..

Too much work and its 16 year old car that customer is not paying me extra to do all of this. He wanted me to paint right over crack in bumper, etc.
I'm already doing more work than what customer is paying and there would have to be more bodywork involved fixing little dings/scratches on back end of the car.

at that point, why not the 1/4's and rear bumpercover./deck.
you're already 1/2 in the 1/4's kinda silly to stop that far back

Here's some pics of work I've done so far, hopefully will be shooting 2K high build here in a day or two.
Repaired rip in the bumper cover, then there's a few dents I've fixed.
Painting bumper cover, hood, both fenders, both doors and blending into quarters. Quite a job but I want to get it finished and out of garage.
This one has been a bit frustrating and I've lost a bit of sleep over it over lol
