Ok so I got the pump on too many holes! Sending unit goes in the left intake...any ideas on heater hose routing?

I didn't have another pump to go by but Stewart Components said the hole did not go any deeper because it would enter the casting. It had lots of slag left tn the hole. Didn't need it right away so waiting on the new one. I will post pics of the old and new together.

|496CHEVY3100||When you install the hose fitting the hole should align with the pump consider the thickness of the fitting it would have ben ok ,but since they are sending you another either will be ok ,I like good customer service,sounds like Srewart is customer freindly Thanks for post|

|panhead1961||I called Stewart Components talked to customer service and sent them a picture as well. They are sending me another pump and were Excellent to deal with! Will buy Stewart Components from now on.|

Stewart's were great when I bought a Ford pump for my car - I expect they will stand behind yours as well. All you should be out is some time. If you bought it through Speedway, same thing. I returned a set of poorly machined con rods not too long ago to Speedway - they supplied the no charge return UPS label. Again, I was out some time and a ride to the UPS store. Call them.

Thanks guys, I thought it looked excessive. I have sent an email with the picture to Stewart customer service. I will contact Speedway as well.

|skippy89||my apologies, i just viewed the full picture on my lap top. that is a large amount of cast material. If you have the time to knock it loose and smooth it down with a dremel, then go that route. But you could just return it and say it's defective, and wait however long you have to for a new one to arrive. Because a blockage that large might cause you to overheat.|

|skippy89||All that is, is flashing from when it was molded. You can see the same material in the water passage of some new engines, as I did with my new small block. It's possible for it to come loose with operation, but unlikely to cause any harm in the form of plugging up the system. If you're really worried about it, just take a file or dremel to the flashing and get the loose material off. Then take a garden hose, or sink faucet and rinse it out. You can also leave it be, and wait for whatever actually wants to break loose, to come free. Then flush your entire cooling system, as a precaution, and simply preventative maintenance.|

Stewart water pump issue
I bought a stage 1 Stewart water pump for my small block. I was shocked when I looked in the top hole, I could see where they drilled it, not all the way but that may be as far as they drill it but there was slag from the milling machine just hanging there. I tapped it with a screwdriver and clumps of slag fell out. May let them have it back! I don't have another pump to go buy so if any of you have a pump lying around please take a look to see if this is the way they drill then. If I keep it I will need to knock as much of that stuff off an possible and flush it.
Damn I get tired of ordering parts and getting the wrong stuff or just plain ****!
