|deadbodyman||speed clears can be very useful for painting small stuff like a bumper cover also cutting in ..You can paint it and install the part ..As a painter Im surprized you never had a pile of fenders and other parts that had to be cut in before being installed on all the cars being painted,speed clear can be a big help since theres little waiting for drying ,by the time you clean out your guns you can pull the parts out and and start on the next batch...It can also be useful when you dont have a booth because the clear drys so fast the dust and dirt dosent have much time to get in it..|

This might sound like a dumb question, but i just purchased a gallon of red metallic pearl from autobahn. It's a brand new color that just came out for cheap. 2 sprayable gallons (1 to 1 reduced) for 180...
Wondering if it'll fade or if it was a good buy. I assumed that it was the clear that offered uv protection as well as fade resistance? I'll be getting me a SPI kit for top coat...Ive used their (autobahn) euro speed clear for a couple years now, and I like it better then Nason 4 to 1. So I figured if their clear is good, their color should be too?

never heard about it too.
I usually use STANDOX which is the official BMW clear coat and gives very good finish.
Glasurite is also very good.

Here's Sherwin Williams DC5020 'overall clear'
I shot it with Finex 2000 1.3 tip (used this gun for the clear for the first time, previously was using my Sata Jet) It laid it out pretty good, overall I'm happy with the result, wouldn't have to buff it if there was no dirt in the clear.

SPI is premier top of the line paint. It is on par with any of the "majors" best line paints.
The reason it is priced for the working man, Barry does not have multiple layers of advertising,distribution,warehousing. He passes along the savings instead of putting that potential additional profit in his pocket.

|deadbodyman||Heres some more SPI Universal (before buffing) When I sprayed it it looked great ,when I came back in it had flowed out even slicker...I almost hated to put sandpaper on it....and my two DD 's a 2000 and an 02 Impala,painted 4-5yrs ago|

|swvalcon||I agree with deadbodyman on the SPI clears. I've used all three and like the universal and the production the best. The purple is universal the other one is production. Production seems to be a little harder clear.|

|deadbodyman||SPI makes three clears ,Universal ,euro,and production clear. I use the universal mostly ,and have sprayed about 5gal of the Euro clear. but never sprayed their production clear,Those that have say its really good also..|

I've used a lot of different clears over the past 30 yrs,
a lot of the cheapest ones out there and a few of the best.
Everyone held up just fine.
The differences came more from the prep and application than the brand.
some sprayed easier, some harder, softer, but the end product
looked just as good if buffed properly and lasted just as well.
