That is true. It could be special ordered for years after the srandard production models changed to foot shift.

As I understand it, the reason the mouse trap went away was because the Motor Company changed the clutch release in '68 and it was no longer needed. On the old 4 speeds models the clutch release lever was so long they could not make the clutch lever work without it.

boothboy John , were you referring to the "clutch booster" spring mechanism used in conjunction with the hand shift bikes with your mousetrap reference? If so the hand shift option was last offered in 1978.

I thought the Mousetrap was a sportster race model only made a coup;e of years

I was waiting on some one else yo answer ..give us another

Close enough David. I have found sources who say 67 and some who say early 68. I just thought it might be a fun question and thought there may be some who did not know that Harley made mouse traps.

Mine was the 350SX and I had mine up to 90mph and that wasn't full throttle.
