Here's one for you all!
I owned one of these for some years. Looked exactly like this pic. Had the 401 in it. Rebuilt it, bored 30 over with all stock internals. Ran and drove very well for a cushy street ride. Gave it to my wife for a DD with the kids.
Actually thought about doin' the steamroller rear and a BBC 468 and a T400. Then came to my senses and just let it be the family car.

The chrome bumper cars are much better looking cars ,,especially the Split bumper ,IMO

I'm liking the style of Matador Coupe, and the pep of the duals 401 motor. One of the best smogger engines of the 1972-74 era. They say some 1975 401 powered Coupes were built too, just like some 454 powered Vettes made it into 1975 MY.Shame they didn't do a 4 speed for the Matador Coupe.

New small block in the car but doesn't seem like much, may have to build a big block, my favorite engine.

Just bought a 70 Camaro SS tonight, will have to get pic's and post tomorrow. Small block auto w 12 bolt.

My biggest complaint of 1970's cars was 1940's compression ratios being used with 1960's cams giving 7 - 9 MPG city and 10 - 13 MPG hiway... at best... soggy engines with little HP that were all done by 4500 RPMs... what I've always called: "The Dark Ages of Engines"... 1960's cars got much better MPG... MPG started coming back again about 1976, but only in the smallest cars to start with...|

Insurance companies didn't like car insurance back then, they wanted to sell life insurance policies... most people let their policies lapse before they died and they seldom had to pay off... then about 1980, AIDS came on the scene... car insurance has looked better and better to them ever since...

The 2nd Gen Camaros NEVER changed suspension components throughout the 1970-81 years. The only major change was dropping the 8.2 10 bolt after 1970, and also dropping the 12 bolt after 1970. All the front and rear suspension that was offered in 1970, was still used in 1981, so where's the better handling?
Yes, you can build any engine Chevy made to more power than it came with. But that has little or nothing to do with a car's value. The value is in what the car came from the factory with, and the earlier 2nd gen Camaros are more valuable because they came with higher HP engines.
All that fugly disco plastic wasn't just ugly, it also had a huge amount of steel behind it, so beyond having an anemic engine, it carried around 300 lbs. of extra weight to further slow them down!
And finally, the early 2nd Gen Camaros were pre DEQ, so they don't have all that smog junk on them. They are exempt from federal EPA or DEQ testing, and thus you can run any engine you'd want to put in them (in most states) and not have to meet any state or federal testing. Start swapping the engine in your '74 or newer Camaro to get the power you'd like, and you'll soon find you've violated federal or state laws, and will have a off road use only car.
As for the TA cleaning any other F body's clock for value. Total BS. Why are you saying "unless it's a BB or HO, or SD"? Any early split bumper RS, or Z/28 will get every penny or more than a TA of later years.
You're either out of touch, or clueless about 2nd Gen F body cars. I've owned them long enough that I know what will or wont sell, and what the values are, and you're so far off track it's nuts.

lets try facts shall we, the 2nd gen wasn't of any value until a few years ago.. the later cars are 9-11 years newer.. than the 70.5-73
the 77-78 t/a cleans the early cars clocks on worth as far as $$$ unless you get into the big block and the h.o's and SD of 73-4 . the older crowd that thinks the 71 back had more power.. and the ones that shockingly hate the 2nd gens when they got the wrap rear window, but are the sameones that cried about the new cars blind spots.. go fig.. the #'s matching crowd are the only ones that hold the early cars in more worth, the rest of the car world knows the newer cars handle better, drive better and the power is a rebuild away.. something a car that's 34 y/o or better will need anyways..
If you're into cars that cross a block and then mothballed, and that gets your rocks off, great.. the 79-81 z looks killer.. even with it's disco strip kit.. and not so costly that you'd be afraid to drive it.. most of those 70.5-73 f bodies that have any worth haven't cracked the secondaries in years in anger.. so they might as well have the 1981 lame 145hp as they are driving like rolls ..
Your generation is stuck in 72 or before.. everything after that blows...
those that were 7-13 when the 77's and later came out, like those more.. as it's what they grew up with.. some look at the car, some drive them.. fact is only the rs from the 70.5-73 look good.. the others look tame.. but that's my opinion.. I'll take a poncho thanks..
