|draggin95niss||Oh ok but what do people use for that type of trim on a custom panel? I understand if its just formed round or flat bar but how is it attatched?|

|DanTwoLakes||The thin chrome is original chrome from the original door panels. It is attached with prongs that go through holes in the panel and are bend down to hold it in place.|

|DanTwoLakes||This stuff is soft, like polyurethane foam you'd use in seat cushions. You could not make door panels with it. PVC foamboard is not expensive, you could easily make 4 door panels with a 4'by 8' sheet at about $7.50 a door panel. That's half of what waterproof panel cardboard sells for.|

|DanTwoLakes||Brian: Almost nobody uses waterproof panel board any more. PVC foam board is the way to go to make door panels. You can get it from most sign shops or from sheet plastic suppliers. It goes by the brand names CelTec, Komatex, Sintra, and Palight. It comes in 4' by 8' sheets and is available in 3MM and 6MM thicknesses. 3MM is about equal to 1/8" thick, just like the panel board. This stuff cuts with regular woodworking tools. When you drill holes, use spade bits or Forstner bits. You can sew through it with no problem. It is completely waterproof, unlike "waterproof" panel board. It costs about $30 for a sheet, and is well worth it.|

What exactly is that "cardboard" called that is used in the back of trim panels?
