RWENUTS Make them equal. Tranny 3* down, pinion 3* up.
Your rearend needs to come up 6*.
When setting up a new rearend don't tack the perches on until you have the rearend sitting at ride height on the ground. Set the pinion angle, tack it into place, remove and finish weld.
Here's a link on pinion angles.

57SteveChevy Good morning everyone! this morning, the angle on my transmission is between 2 and 3 degrees down, the angle on my pinion is between 3 and 4 degrees down. I tacked the perches on level with a 3 degree angle up but now installed these are the results, looking at these I am thinking I need to reweld the perches level with a positive angle of 8 to 9 degrees to level the line from trans to pinion, any thoughts? Thanks again for the help!!

It will be fine as long as its 3 degrees down. most rear ends have that built into them already (angle of leaf spring perch).

I am new to the site and am in need of some help! I have a 57 3100 and I am installing a 79 Camaro rear end, my question is, does anyone know how many degrees of angle to set the pinion at keeping in mind that my truck still has the stock height and stock leaf springs? Thanks for any help you can give me in advance!! I am attaching a picture of what the angle looks like now at 3 degrees, let me know what you think!
