I do appreciate your help!

DanTwoLakes Here's the difference between the two: The Consew is newer and has reverse. The Consew has a vertical hook which loads bobbins from the right of the needle. The Singer is older, does not have reverse and has a horizontal hook like a Consew 206, which loads bobbins from the left of the needle. It does have automatic lubrication, but to me that's not any kind of advantage.

Just having reverse is enough to get the Consew over the Singer.

This say it is heavy to lightweight.
The only reason I ask is... They are both up for auction, I may get out bid on my 1st choice.

DanTwoLakes Never heard of that one. If I were you, I'd stick with the Consew 226.

Thanks!

How about a singer 251-3?
Same questions...

DanTwoLakes It's just a newer model than the 226R and R1, and yes, it will sew anything you want as far as a car interior is concerned. There may be slight differences between the models, but they won't be much different. If it's in good shape, and you can buy it for $900 with a table and motor, buy it. My 226R is 50 years old and works like a champ.

Consew 226R-2

Hi, will the consew 226R-2 work on leather/vinyl upholstery.
I have a lead on one...
What's the difference between a 226R-1 & 226R-2?
