OneMoreTime In this case I think it may be good to look into some safety goggles that are ground to your prescription and then put the tearoffs on those..i know they are available but you would need to do a search for who makes them..

geeky2 yes - you are correct - it is a fitment and reflectivity issue (with the hood only).

you mentioned a 1/2 mask with goggles.

i have seen teh 1/2 mask on the autobody store.

can you send a link to the goggles????

this sounds like a good compromise -

i am considering this:

or this:

Autobody Store: Hobbyair Full Face Mask

does anyone have any experience with either of these types of masks.

i initially chose the hood because my research indicated it offered good overall protection and worked best for people who wore glasses - but now that i have been wearing it for 1 year - i don't believe i am going to get used to it.

it also moves around on my head when i turn (despite how tight i have the head band) which again is very distracting.

OneMoreTime The problem is in the hood not the air supply so we focus on that issue..This is one of those deals where some guys have an issue and some do not. So in you case you may wish to try the half face respirator with disposable goggles..Constant issue with safety gear is that in industry we buy the stuff by the case and most can live with it but there are some who cannot for reasons of fitment or something..

dinger My first thought was some tint like that is used on car windows. There is also a very light non reflective tint that can be used on windshields, it wouldn't be hard to replace, I would think peel back a hair, some water and it would pull off of your shield.

reflection issues with supplied air hood

hello everyone,

need some feedback.

about a year ago, i purchased this from the autobody store with the full hood option:

Autobody Store: Hobbyair and Pro-Air

len has been very good about supporting the product and i have NO complaints. he has been prompt in returning email questions and even replaced a defective hood.

but now that i am painting more - and in general learning more about what i don't know ... i am starting to notice certain issues -

by far my biggest issue is reflectivity with the hood face sheild, especially when i have to paint at certain angles. the face shield lens protectors tend to make the situation worse!

in some situations - i either take off the lens protector - or switch to using a bandit respirator. neither option is good.

i am thinking about either switching out the hood for a full face mask or moving to another type of system all together - possibly like the one below.

Sa-100-psk Versaflo 3M

anyone have similar issues or advice on this subject.
