Gettin the fever.
Fixin to put Tags on it and drive it daily so it can go to the shop for its 389 that will be ready soon. Waiting on Summit to send my cam.

Thanks fellas....
It is a solid car from So. Cal. Found some info in different places to tell me where the car lived. It was in Torrance Ca in 69 as it had a parking permit on the winshield for El Camino College. MY CAR WENT TO SCHOOL.Kansas built, sold in hobbs new mexico as New and sold again in lovington New Mexico as used, went to Torrance in 68-69. It has a radiator tag on the Radiator showing it was recored By Burbank Radiator Service.Pretty sweet. BURBANK.
The spill is fiberglass. The spot on the drivers floor was a pepperd with rust and I didnt want to cut it out and weld a whole bunch of stuff in there. It didnt seem all that bad. I just covered it a little wide.
I figure you wont see it from under the car once I paint the underside. And the carpet / Pad will cover it anyhow.
Does kinda look like a beer huh ..LOL
I am going to put it on the road in a few weeks, as soon as it rains a few times and rinses all the road salt down. That way I can drive it to the shop and spend some weekends getting it further along.

In my opinion you have one of the most desireable cars ever produced period.Regardless of price then or now,i like 64 and 65 especially the sedan like you have ,the hardtop rattles and wind whistles a little to much,i had a 65 sadan cpe and a 64 convertible GTO ,the 64 i drove on my honeymoon kinda special ,Thanhs for posting pictures..:thumbup:

I have all the GTO badging for this car. Seeing how I dont have PHS or anything much else, and it was a 326 3 speed stick originally , I am wrestling with the notion of cloning it to a GTO.
The toughest and most exspensive item to get would be the GTO hood.

If i liked it as a GTO i would make it to your taste ,most people say there is no identifing a GTO from a Tempest or Lemans ,its true the serial # dont show difference besides engine the ONLY way to ID a true GTO is on data plate Cowl tag at right bottom corner there will be the letter D stamped in tag it designates 389 4v engine avalible in gto not tempest ,and the lemans was an deluxe model for the tempest ,most people dont k:Dnow that .and i would not care if thats what i wanted.

To clone or not to clone... that is the question.:D I had a '68 Le Mans, not one GTO badge anywhere on it. It was a 2-door sedan ('68 GTO were hard or rag top only) and even had the chrome front bumper instead of the Endura GTO piece (although you could order a GTO w/a chrome bumper). I STILL had so many people call it a "GTO" 'till I finally quit correcting them. I suspect the majority who would see your Le Mans will do the same thing.

Personally, I'm w/the guy below. lol

Cobalt...I wrestle with that sometimes. I think if you tell someone you have a GTO , at least they think they know what you have, If you tell them LeMans they sometimes havent a clue.
I Still have plenty of time to decide....Heck I took since last july to finally choose a cam for my 389.( I had to remodel the kitchen first LOL)
I chose the crane H-272 216 in 228 E @ .050 454 in 480 ex.
Static is at 9.5 with 80 CC iron heads. A tad higher than I was shooting for. Still should do 89 octane as I decked it to .005 . Heads have a small quench area. I am tightening up the cooling system this summer also with an aluminum cross flow rad and shroud. I will run 93 if I have to.I am hoping it will tune to run 89 here in the hills.

3100- I remember Junior Samples Auto sales from Hee Haw in the 70s. I was a young man then.
I dialed BR-549 many a time but got some operator chick telling me that number is not in service. His car were Da Bomb.:D
It has to be pretty cool to meet him in person. I allways loved that show too. My father in law has dish and he gets hee haw.. we have cable and dont get it.:(
Those were the good ol days.

Thank you. I think I am going to keep all paint under hood too. Chrome may make it look too fast...LOL
I was thinking of painting the car white, but I am not sure . The Skyline blue is kinda soft looking. Another good sleeper thing. :D

Thank you all for taking interest in my project. I am really anxious to get back to work on it . I would like to have the interior done by summers end and the back winow finished. We'll see. After that a paint job .:sweat::sweat::thumbup:

I will post some pics of the engine swap and such in the near future when I get to the point of install and finish.
Still scratching my head over chrome dress up. I think I will keep it all painted so it looks timid.

Awesome car! You're going to put an Auto Gear 'muncie' in it...right?

All kidding aside; when I was a lil shaver, my AUNT still had her Tempest Sprint (her dad wouldn't pay to insure the V8). Her GRANDFATHER knew what it was and talked him into letting her have it; then proceeded to get the first speeding ticket in it. My dad won several stoplight skirmishes with it as well.

Lynn I like the light blue, but white on a straight car with a little chrome looks KILLER.
