They're at Daytona for testing. Sprint Cup cars have a lot of changes to downforce, HP, etc. and a new look, I'm sure some won't like it but they do look a little more recognizable between the makes.

Averaging about 195 no draft, should be well over 200 mph in the draft. Don't know if it'll be a tandem or multi-draft deal yet, in the current configuration they seem a bit twitchy when they're nose to tail. But they're a lot faster.

The testing goes on through the 12th. Speed is covering it.

I would have fallen asleep no matter what was on. As I can't go anyplace except around the home.:pain: I did wake up when my wife started yelling at the TV cheering Carl on, so I got to see the end of the race. :embarrass

NASCAR has really screwed up the racing, they made the cars safe, but you can't pass. OH well maybe next week.:D:cool::thumbup::thumbup:

Carl is a class act IMHO and I was glad to see him win again- finally. One race short of 2 full years w/o a win, according to the talking heads. He's better than that. Just goes to show you that it's as much about the team and chemistry as it is the hard parts.

Then there's poor ol' pile bush- his teammate Denny Hamlin loses a valve spring, so they swap pile's out for safety's sake, and wouldn't you know they get it wrong and the engine blows when they crank it back up for the first time after swapping springs. Bye bye- back of the pack for you both. At least Hamlin had a good finish (3rd), but pile and his malcontent brother finished back mid-pack somewhere.

So guess it's Denny's time to shine, great driver I have always thought he was.But it just seams like to me he has a real chip on his shoulder the last couple of years:boxing: I wonder how Gibb's will deal with this:spank: Guess Gibbs will have his check book out today:nono:

denny and gibs

first it apears toyota cant build a engine that will last,,denny always seems to have a big chip, that could improve when toyota solves ther engine isue.bush has matured, kensith jumped to the wrong ship.roush should grab bush.
nascar needs to break up thebig combine backed by gm and ford to a lesser gegree.pass a rule that teams have 2 cars and must build ther own engines, run any rear axel ratio they want.Rick and the france grp controle the whole show, not good. cliff

How do you feel about Denny being fined TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for his post race comments about the Gen 6 cup cars?

I'll be the first to say its BS in light of what he actually said.

Hamlin fined for post-race comments
well thats just like when stewart said a few years back on a tuesday that the race was like wrestling. they throw the caution when they want freezing the field to benefit who they want. they shouldnt be fined for anything they say on their own time. it BS and it hurt their fan base back then and it will again. the fans are what can change things. they trashed talladega once for finishing the last 9 laps under caution. and after that they have a green white checker, so rioting does get s**t done.

I think that all the sprint cup drivers should say to nascar, you fine denny we wont run vaguse.I t is bad enough listening to all the anounsers who would not say **** if they had a mouth full.Iwill have no respect for nascar if they do not rethink dennys fine.what he sead was just the truth so far the gen6 has not bean a howling sucsess. in closing i am now a denny fan. cliff

Nascar's gotten just like the Feds'. Too controlling and anything someone says that they don't like, they stomp on 'em. I read where Denny is refusing to pay the fine. YOU GO DENNY !!! Screw NASCAR....if they don't want to hear negative things about the cars, then get out of the design of them and let the teams build what they want to drive.

OK, I'm done, who's next on the soapbox...:D

Will I guess it's a rain delay at Vegas, rain delays are not so bad because they show all the good old days of racing.Showing the King in the old days David Person,Bobby Allison,Cale Yarbough,Buddy Baker, I remember having my picture made with these guy's. Course God bless my Grandparents that was something that they never kept up with pictures,I hate that nothing I can do about that now.

Las Vegas race

(Las Vegas or "lost wages"? :D)

Now THAT was a race! (No two-car push, no freight trains, lotsa passing - it seemed that everyone passed everyone else at least twice!) Best of all - not a single "big one" wreck!

Despite the best efforts of "Wrecky" Stenhouse to test the wall, it was never marred by a red flag to clean up the debris, only two cars blew up - and one of those was pure driver error when Newman hit "eleventy-eleven million" RPM on a missed shift and one that just plain blew up.

The viewing audience is growing, largely due to the presence of a beauty pageant contestant in the "Go Daddy" car, so now sponsors will be easier to sign when there are more folks watching, and the $$$$ will make for better research and even better racing.

High speeds on track, cars that actually look (somewhat) like what you can find in a showroom, and a format that even "Aunty Ethyl" can follow.

Its was as close to a perfect race as can be done!

(I'm NOT gonna bother watching next week's demo derby at the paperclip. In my view, any and all tracks less than a mile should either become parking lots or strip malls, or else reserved for go-karts and amateur night races involving four cylinder front-wheel drive cars!)

Finally Bristol this weekend love this track should be a good race. I did the Richard Petty driving experince a few years ago that was a blast If I ever do it again I will go to Bristol,Had a buddy that raced a Bush car there years ago he said every lap was a blast.

Ok where is everyone at been kinda quiet around hear, So had to move some furniture yesterday and you guessed it right just as the race was coming on. So did Bush run away with it,I am assuming he will today:rolleyes: hope it's a good race and if Bush wins that's ok as long as he really has to work for it:sweat: Last week we where all talking about the tracks we missed the one's they shut down, did anyone bring this one up Rockingham,:( Talk to ya'll later on oh yea not moving nothing today:nono: Ya'll have fun it's Bristol baby, where do they go next week:thumbup:

#109 ·
yes i miss rockingham also, always was the 2nd race of the season. my favorite was 1996 when bobby hamilton driving pettys STP 43 bumped earnhardt for the lead in turn 4. then the next lap around in turn 4 bobby hamilton tapped the wall, lol. then earnhardt went on to win the race with a little bit of that petty blue scuffed on the right front. and 1994 when earnhardt clinched the title in the fall race with around 18 laps to go holding off rick mast for the win.

I came in from the yard and sat down for a 5 minute break with a coffee. Clicked on the tube and did a bit of channel surfing. Stopped and watched two laps of 40 mph demo derby at Bristol and then hit the "next channel" button. If I wanna watch THAT kind of racing there is a figure 8 track not too far away. Did any cars survive long enuff to actually win? Did anyone get up to 50 mph?

I enjoyed it for the most part. Corner speeds were in the high 90/low 100 mph range. Any time you put 43 stock cars w/800 hp on a 1/2 mile concrete 'clip, there's gonna be hurt feelings. And bent sheetmetal. I'd rather watch 10 Bristols than one "big one" at the beach or Talladega.
