I have always liked the look of painted bumpers on certain rides, yours being one of them. The motivation is monetary but the look can be better than chrome. Also like that draw bar cover, pretty slick. You going back with that stock dark red? Sounds like the bodywork wasn't too bad and I bet that aside from the wallet hit, you 'uns will be enjoying the old truck in a new way soon.

cozwurth Those bumpers had more runs than the starting line at the Boston Marathon... I got them sanded down, cleaned up and primed again. I got the air pressure situation under control, now I just need more practice. And another regulator. Body work on them begins tomorrow, I guess.

Ok, I got it. Summit, Jegs whoever may sell them, just like QA1s. For some reason I thought that was the only or "thee" place to buy them........

Calling will get you list price. They are like most other manufacturers who have a distributor network that they won't undercut. cozwurth Les and I went with the shop manager to take a look at the truck late this morning. It was all jambed out, and he was getting ready to mask it off to do the color on the cab. Really looked nice. The roof and the cab corner turned out great. He told me that he had to do some metal replacement on the driver side, too. Same area of the cab corner there, too. I got the paint code, and picked up a quart of paint to do my bumpers.

Since I have a frame mounted trailer hitch, I fabricated a piece to cover that center area on my bumper. There were a couple of really bad gouges and sharp dings in the bumper there, so this piece is serving double duty. I got that piece fitted and then finished sanding the bumper. I also made up a small cart to hold the bumpers up to make it easier to paint. I did manage to get them both shot with epoxy primer, but they're a mess. Looks like a 3rd grader sprayed them. My regulator at the gun took a dump on me, so I just made do with what I had. My small compressor was loading up with moisture in this humidity, so I was essentially back-feeding air from that into dad's currently non-operational compressor from the opposite end of the shop to help cool the air. No moisture at the other end, so that was a success, anyway. No pics of the primed bumpers... too embarrassing, lol. I guess I have a bit more block sanding to do than I was counting on. That's a task for tomorrow afternoon.

123pugsy Almost 3 years but I finally got my boat on the water and took the kids fishing.
Lucky that the 3 year old gas is still OK. Fuel stabilizer must have helped.

Too Many Projects Convert to coil overs and you'll like the ride much better, plus the height is adjustable. I did that to mine after the first few rides and would never go back to spring and shock.

Viking has the same style coil over and was started by former employees of QA-1. Little lower cost for the same quality and they are headquartered less than a mile apart.

Rodnit Since I've been having issues with the rear suspension being way too stiff I thought I would pull the front shocks and check them out. Yep, shot. 0 pressure. Probably why my front tires are slightly cupped on the inside here and there, probably why I have a shake at 55mph and probably why I hit certain bumps and the wheel jars in my hand.

I see QA1 makes a set just for MIIs,,,,

Took an hour to drive 1.5 mile to get in and parked, where it normally took 10 minutes...

Damn, what in the world would have made them change that?
