It's made by American Motors, next question.

Today I got out there and lifted the Rambler up to do this stuff, but got side tracked when I figured I would fire the Gran Sport up (first time since Aug) and take it over to the rad shop as I saw they were still open when I passed them on the way home. He looked it over and waved a magic wand and sent me on my way. I will be using it if I have to but got to get that damn ***** Marge on the road....don't tell her I called her that.

tech69 put togethers suck on Monday, especially a support job on a Prius. with the old schools you can note where to leave panels cause you do have some play and for the most part final assembly will go smooth if you remember anything extreme that you did, even without marks. With old school supports you weld it in and it's not moving! With this prius you can get under hood specs, square it up perfectly to spec, have shouldered bolts, and still be battling that head light on final assembly. The difference is that thin crap twists a lot which gives you readings that are spec and when you bolt in that support it will fit differently depending how it reacts as you bolt it down. I kid you not, some of these cars just get ruined by the smallest hits these days.

Anywho, been researching a whole lot on battery powered 1/2" impacts after my air one went out, and Milwaukee seems to have it down with the battery powered ones. Great addition for when they want me to put on a knee in the lot so I can bring the darn thing inside to finish the repairs, so I ordered one of them 18V impacts and they sound awesome!

Too Many Projects Brian, no offense but you have NO IDEA what "rust out" is. That 60 year old car is more solid than many of the 20 year old cars in this area..

Nope, don't plan any changes. She is just a driver. Believe me, there are more serious issues with that car like it's designed my the engineers at American Motors to rust, it's designed to take on water and rust out, that was their goal and they succeeded.

123pugsy Been picking away at the house project. Little stuff.
Waiting on materials for the main floor. Bead board slats, baseboards etc.

Working on drawings now to give the city for the handrail attachment to the back deck. They want engineered stamped drawings for this...say what?

I think I'll get started without the drawings just to get things moving.
That is, if it ever gets dry outside.

You know, probably a six inch Ford rear would be all Marge would need but when have you seen one of them?

Rip VW I have done absolutely nothing significant in the last 5 days. The shoulder crapped out and I have been trying to rehab it but it is slow going. Meanwhile all I can do is set and surf left handed. I am hoping to be able to get back to work in the shop tomorrow. I feel pretty good today but I won't push it.

In the meantime I will return you to our regularly scheduled posts..

Sounds like it's time to narrow up a 9" for Marge, just so you can replace the U-joints on the workbench...

YEP! Or you can remove the yoke from the differential which is NOT easy. I have tried and never pulled it off. The yoke screws into the differential and has a giant lock nut to keep it from spinning. It's installed to about 200 ft lbs and not easy to get off. I gave up and just installed the U joints on the car.

Are you saying, you must assemble the u joints right on the car to install them?

MARTINSR Sooooooo I am in the house sick. My brother came by to get his fender and he and Nick looked at the Rambler and he came to the conclusion that the fork spring to bell housing has fallen off. I will need to move the bell housing back or to go ahead and move the rear end back so I can pull the tranny off to fix it, great.

By the way, before you ask, there are no U bolts on the U joints so I just can't drop the driveshaft, I have to move the rear end back pulling the yoke out.

I am in a wrestling match with my GTP sunroof today. At least the sun shade part. The fabric is deteriorating and causing interference. Meh. I went and read that blue truck article and enjoyed it. But they say it has a stock bed floor under the wood. That was one thing that I did was to install a fabbed bed floor but the article would say I'm a liar. Nothing new there. The original floor was useless and replacements are only available in quarter sections.
