Stock '40 Ford car wheels were 16" diameter x 4" wide. Coker can give details on tire fitment, or check at HAMB. A lot of guys went to the Ford 15" wheels, 5-1/2" wide, used on 1/2 ton trucks beginning around '57 or so. Much better tire selection for these wheels using 15" tires.

Deuce A lot of rodders just use a set of mid 50's F-100 rims. I did

The original wheel pattern on a 1940 Ford is 5 on 5.5 and that is the same as Ford pickups for many years ( not current ones ). It is a big pattern and not the most popular pattern for the aftermarket mag wheel manufacturers.

Wheel adapters are available, but only make the track width wider and uses up valuable room when trying to use aftermarket rims.

Deuce On my basically stock suspension 1940 Ford standard businessman coupe ... I just used a set of 55/56 F-100 rims on the front. They come in a 15 inch rim size and I had 165/15/80R Kumos on the front. On the rear I had a widened rim with the F-100 center and used a 225/75/15R tire.

I also had a dropped axle and a reversed eye spring in the front and a rear spring de-arched.
