silentpoet I pulled the drive shafts and the starter. Also got the linkage off the transfer case and drained the transfer case. All I need to do for the transfer case now is unbolt it from the transmission. Still have to get the cross member loose, 2 bolts on the driver's side are being stubborn. I have even done some cutting on the bolts/nuts with a cut off wheel and still stuck. I used up most of a cutoff wheel. I have bolts and nuts to replace them. I am not feeling well so I have not worked on it as much as I would like today. Other than the cross member I believe it is just the six tranny to engine bolts to go as far as the transmission.

I believe maybe an hours work more to drop the tranny. Then replace the slave cylinder, cuss the ford engineers who thought this was a swell idea, and reverse the procedure. I hope to be done by tomorrow evening or monday at the latest. Just depends on how I feel tomorrow.

One of our stainless steel suppliers used to be only in cooper and brass sales. Their name came up on some blueprints for black zinc. We got the project and I ordered in the material and thought it looked cool.

The natural zinc is cool also. Adding patina to it is real easy.

It is zinc sheet that has been oxidized black.
The back is aluminum to cut down on weight.

Too Many Projects Yesterday, I cleaned up the 327 in my '66 Malibu and put it back together. I did do a compression check and have 6 cylinders with 110# and 2 with 60-70. Looks like the pistons may be stock 250 hp. The 2 low cylinders could be stuck rings from sitting..

I need to find a way to power the ignition to see if it has spark, as the wire harnesses are removed and somewhat butchered. If I can get spark, I'll install the fuel pump and use a gas can for supply to see if it will fire up.

It has no trunk floor to mount the new gas tank that came with it, so it may be a while before it can drive but having it self-motivated would be nice.

deadbodyman Well at least your not in back of Orielies parking lot broke down somewhere in tenn. replacing a master, slave and line with borrowed tools after waiting 24 hrs for it.good thing we had a running car on the rollback and I sure am glad I have a commercial account with them here in Ga. its good up there too and they went way out of their way to help...Good people up there in Tenn...
and as a plus my uncle and I got to have lunch with the infamous "John Long" while waiting (he's still talking about his awesome interior work)....after going to missisippi and all the way back to Augusta with two cars on it the dang the line blew again 1/2 mile from my shop at a busy intersection we had to get pulled across the street (with a chain) and drove the rest of the 1/2 mile at a mere cost of 375.00 ...It was kind of funny explaining I need a tow for my tow truck with two cars on it....Once I got a good look I found a missing exhaust bolt blowing hot exhaust on that plastic clutch line...problem solved...
