68 firebird does any body know a way that i could test them to see if they can cause a static charge

68 firebird thank u for the responses to my post.the reason i thought of the waders is because i was reading what the antisqueak kit was made out of and it said that it was a spongy type of neoprene and i figured that was exactly what the waders were made of.i never thought about the static electricity they might put out.i would like to hear more info if anybody knows if they do put out a static charge.last thing i want is to blow up my car and myself due to a spark.thanks again for your replies

LATECH I used tarpaper cut with a straightedge. looks OE. It is also oily/greasy and repels water,and where the paper touches the tank is also oily. Should help it from rusting out under the straps.
I would think that waders or vynil material would hold water and also make static electricity. Just a thought.

1971BB427 I use old tire tubes between the tank and strap to isolate the mounts. Use them on numerous other places in car builds too. They work great, and free at most tire stores.

68 firebird thanks bob i figured that it would work im putting it in this weekend.besides gives me a use for them im a big trout fisherman and have a couple pairs that leak.nice to find a use for them.thanks again

gas tank anti squeak pads

im am about to change my gas tank but forgot to order antisqueak kit.was wondering if i could cut up an old pair of neoprene waders and use them to do the job.any comments would be greatly appreacated. thank you
