DanTwoLakes All you need is something the shape of the windlace over the top of the door. Whatever you use has to stand out a little bit so that the headliner material can be pushed under. It would help to have teeth to hold the fabric.

Thanks Dan. You have confirmed my suspicion that I am missing these "grip strips" . Looks like I will have to either "locate" some replacements or fabricate something that will work. Looking at the link you posted , gave me some ideas of what I need. If I do fabricate something new, I'll take photos that may be able to help someone else. Thanks again.

DanTwoLakes The windlace is attached first, and the headliner retainers bump up to the windlace. There should be a headliner retainer strip that screws into the area above the doors and rear windows. The headliner is tucked up under those strips which have teeth to hold the cloth in place. Look at this thread and you will see what I mean. The first and last pictures in the first post show the headliner retaining strips. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/head...al-146600.html This car is a '55 Town Sedan. The interior was done with fabric original to the car.

New to the site, first post, but have been viewing for a year plus. Thanks Dan two lakes for the online info and the tutorials. Just bought some "Komatex", it is awesome stuff. I do have a question. I am working on a 41 Ford tudor. No interior right now. Purchased a headliner , and I have all the bows. What / how is the head liner held in place around the doors. There is no "grip" strip, just some tabs / teeth (13) along the top door opening that face the ground. These seem to big too big to do anything but damage the liner. An old tack strip behind the door (b-piller) and one on the "A" piller. I assume that the windlace glues and tacks in first around the door opening, but what / how is the headliner retained above the door? Again, thanks for all the information, both past and future.
