vinniekq2 also consider an updated better coil for the HEI if its stock and plug gap at .040 is plenty

BOBCRMAN@aol.com Common for numbers to be missing or smeared. Friday after lunch at the foundry.
Plugs should be old style flat gasket.

name that head...

have a 66-67ish 283 with powerpak heads casting 38845_0. all the info i can find is for 3884520 - mine literally has a space (no 2). Date is K286 which should be Nov 28 1966 - that matches a 3884520 (except mine has no 2 )

Question 1: is a missing # normal?

Question 2: the plugs that came off it are tapered peanuts. but i got the car on trade and have found some "interesting" mechanic work (like torque converter bolts that fall out - 2 of them). so i'm not sure what was in it should be in it. everything i'm reading says the 13/16 flat gasket plugs. I do have an HEI so i believe gap is 40-45.

any help much appreciated.
