most 83 Camaros came with 305's
very few got 350 stock.

8.0 to 1 compression
1.94 intake 150 exh valves in 76 cc chamber heads
2 bolt mains cast crank cast pistons

I have looked up all the numbers and knew it was probably just a low comp motor but wanted some more info to confirm it. No need to be a ******* here.

|killeratrod||why tell us about an 83 motor , you swap it to a 97 LT1. unless i did not understand the rambleman approach to your question!! also if you can do all of this why do you need us !! only a simple number look up. not rocket science here!!|

|Valkyrie5.7||I wouldn't be searching for an RPO engine code to dial this down into. Like it's been said above it's a 350 with open chamber smog-era heads. This is probably the most common 350 arrangement that you'll find put together by a shade tree mechanic. My 65 C-10 came with a very similar arrangement.|

Alright so, Gathered more info on it.
Found CKB as an ending on the passenger side behind the Alt. Which means it can be a L65 or L48. What would this combo be? CKB block with 487X heads. As far as I searched 487x heads are not common for a ckb shortblock? Some guidance would be nice here.

Sorry if unclear. Car was running like crap when I drove it home. Driver side header had 3 bolts missing, pass header had all bolts loose. Holley Carb did not have floats adjusted properly and would puke fuel when opening the sight holes. No advanced vacuum was even hooked up. Spark plugs were not gapped and were ranging from .20 to .55...
Anyways, yes car is running good now after tuning in the Carb.
As far as 4.11s, PO said it had 4.11s. Haven't confirmed since Speedo is not functional at this point and have not taken it on the highway lately.

Gathering more info on the motor that came with my 83 Camaro..
So I bought my 1983 Camaro about 2 months ago. Car was running like crap. Did a full tune up and got some casting numbers from it.
Im a big 3rd gen Fbody guy. My experience is mainly with L98s, LB9s, L03s and LT1 (93-97) since I swapped in a 97 LT1 into my old 86 Firebird.
Anyways, Figured it would have the 5.7L stamp on the back behind the driver side head but only found 3970010. Heads are 3973487X with what looks like G82 under it. It had a Edelbrock Sp2p intake which I swapped out for a Performer but ended up being warped, so I slapped on a Holley Street Dominator 300-38. Carburetor is a Holley with 6619-1 stamped on the horn. Which seems to be a 4160 if im right.
Car runs very good. My question is basically what do I have here. Car pulls very good. Its behind a Th350C and what is supposed to be 4.11s but I have yet to confirm this.
Here are my questions:
Cyl #1 seems to have a bad valve seal, I get the occasional smoke on start up on a random day. What would be the correct seals for these heads?
What would be a decent cam to put in? Street cam that is
Any general info would be great. This motor seems to be running very good and compareable to my old L98s.
