80ta I had a new set of rancho springs from a 77 camaro parts car.

I ended up measuring a stock 81 camaro and made them that length. Would have liked to go shorter but wasn't sure if it would effect the suspension. They measured 3 3/4 inches. Worked out OK.

Built a set of caltracs at the same time. What a difference, the rear u joint doesn't try to grind its way thru the tunnel now as the power comes on.

rear shackle length firebird

My firebird has longer than stock rear shackles to counteract the 33 year spring sag. I just put new springs in it and it now will clear 30 inch tires with room to spare, ( looks a little to 70's ).

I plan to shorten them up and was wondering if there is a minimim length. They are 5 inches between bolt centers now. thought I'd try about 2.5 - 3inches. Will this be too close to allow the suspension to work properly?

Thanks for your help
